In the past months, a whirlwind of controversy has swirled around film directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s latest movie, The Interview. Notoriously funny men Rogen and Goldberg, responsible for creating wildly popular comedies such as Superbad and This Is The End, haven’t exactly been known for sparking international debate — but The Interview changed that. The movie revolves around Rogen and his co-star, James Franco, participating in endless shenanigans and debauchery all while on their assigned mission to assassinate the Supreme Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un. Consequently, the North Korean government voiced many angry responses, even going as far to say that the release of Rogen and Goldberg’s new film is a “wanton act of terror.” 

The United States government, including President Obama, got involved immediately preceding the hacks on Sony Pictures Entertainment, believed to be lead by the North Koreans in the wake of the production and promotion of The Interview. All of this political outrage caused by the guys who brought us Pineapple Express. Shocking, no? While it is extremely important to be educated on international politics and to acknowledge the the fact that two-thirds of North Korea's population is starving under the leadership of Kim Jong-un, I think that The Interview has many other essential (and lighthearted) lessons to teach us. Here are some of the 10 most important things that we can learn from The Interview.

5) This adorably frightened puppy that James Franco is most handsomely holding onto is actually Seth Rogen's dog in real life (kind of).

8) North Korean children are raised to loathe America.

In the beginning of the film, a young North Korean girl sings a song about hoping that the United States explodes "in a ball of fiery hell" saying that we are "arrogant and fat" and "stupid and evil." According to Seth's tweets, North Korean children are actually taught to think like this.

9) The last words of The Interview are "and then he sh*t his pants. The End."

10) Seth Rogen and James Franco are truly a match made in heaven.

The Interview is now playing in a number of different theaters across the country, and is available online in many places such as iTunes and GooglePlay. If these most essential facts haven't yet convinced you to see this film, I'm not sure what will.
