12 Reasons Why I Love Being A Bro

Being a girl and a "bro" is the best combination.

12 Reasons Why I Love Being A Bro

1. “Guys have less drama.”

Even though I am not a big fan of this cliché quote, it is mostly right. My bros never have drama to the extent that most girls do. Do they fight and make fun of each other? Yes, but it is never enough to cause actual drama.

2. You can look like a bum and still be loved.

When bro nights happen, I can look like a hot mess and I know they won’t judge me. Will they make a witty (and sometimes mean) comment about my appearance? Of course. But in all honestly, they don’t really care what I look like.

3. You always have a date to dances/weddings.

Ever struggle to find a date to the school dance or family wedding? Luckily for me I have my bros. I have gone to already three dances with them and had a blast each time. I know that they will make the evening fun and entertaining.

4. You never have to fight over a guy.

This is pretty self-explanatory. I never have to fear that one of my bros will steal my potential boyfriend.

5. But you do have to get the approval of your bro before entering a relationship with someone.

My bros are protective and I love that about them. It gets a little annoying at times, but they do have my best interest at heart and will tell me honestly if they think the boy I’m talking to is not acceptable.

6. A good bro night is better than any day at the spa.

It all actuality, being with my bros is relaxing. I can be completely myself and not have to dress up when I’m with them. I can vent and laugh and just have a good time and I couldn’t be more thankful for that.

7. You always have a wingman.

You want to talk to a cute guy at a party? No problem. A bro is the best wingman you will ever have. And they know they will always have a wing ”woman.”

8. They can help decipher the strange way that cute guy from the party texts.

Let’s be honest. Guys are confusing when they text and you have no idea what they mean. Well, having bros make texting a lot easier. They know what a guy wants to hear and understand what the guy actually means. They also explain that guys couldn’t care less about the “amount of time it takes you to text back.”

9. You get to learn a little more about how the guy brain works.

Again, guys are confusing. Being out my bros, I have learned a lot more about guys than I ever thought I would. I have learned what they like and pay attention to when checking out a girl.

10. They will make you laugh until you cry.

Boys are just funny in general, but having close bros is hilarious. They do stupid things and say even stupider things, but you can’t help but belly laugh at everything. They are witty and sarcastic and overtime you catch on and your sense of humor evolves. You even start making the raunchy jokes.

11. You know they will be brutally honest.

Your bros are going to be honest with you. I love and hate how truthful they are. They will tell me when I look really good, but also when I’m acting crazy over a boy or obsessing over something little.

12. Those guys will always have your back.

They are some of my best friends and I couldn’t imagine my life without them. The bro nights and group texts make my bad days better. If someone does me wrong, I know I have them to cover me if a fight breaks out (like that would ever happen).

So thank you, guys. For being hilarious and inappropriate, at times, and being the best bros I could ever have. Thanks for allowing me to become a “bro” and showing me how to be stupid and have fun no matter what. I am truly blessed to have you in my life. I love you guys.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
