I Am ... Worthy

This summer I learned that I am worthy of what God has for me.

I Am ... Worthy
Rena VanderVeen

I am worthy. I am worthy of life because of what Christ has done in my life. I am by no means, worthy at all on my own, but it is because of the grace God has showed to me that I am worthy. I have messed up and done things I fully regret, but God takes all those things and carries my burdens. God calls me his daughter and in him, I am made worthy.

God calls me worthy among many other things such as loved, seen, heard, never forgotten, and a child of God, to name a few. I never knew how worthy I am to God until my intern at Younglife camp gave me a rock that said "i am WORTHY."

I learned that I am worthy in the midst of struggling to find my self-worth. I was believing the lies that the enemy was planting into my head of me, that I was not good enough. I believed that I was not good enough for anyone or anything. I believed that I was not worthy of any recognition or even to be noticed by others. Through her telling me this, I realized that I am worthy of so much because of Jesus.

When I realized how worthy I actually am, my perspective on life changed. I started looking at myself the way God looks at me. Being worthy was the first thing I realized I was in God. Every time something does not go my way or I am upset I remind myself who I am in Christ. I remind myself that I am worthy daily.

Do not confuse being worthy in this life with being entitled. No one is entitled to this life, but everyone who has received God's grace for them is worthy. When I realized all the things God makes me worthy for, I made a list and this helped me find who I am in Jesus.

I am worthy to be known by others. I am worthy to be loved by others. I am worthy to be who God has created me to be. I am worthy!

Every person on this planet is worthy. They are worthy of who God created them to be. They are worthy of what God has in store for their lives. They are worthy to love others. They are worthy of the attention and love of those around them and most importantly they are worthy of God's love and grace.

Being worthy is not something we could ever earn, it is something that God has created us to be. Just like God's grace, if we ask we will receive. He takes our mistakes and turns them into beauty. God makes us new everyday and calls us worthy. Being worthy is a part of our identity in Christ as Christians. It brings God glory to call us as people worthy. I challenge you to remember all the things you are worthy of through Christ.

I am Jourdyn and I am made worthy by God because it is apart of my identity in him!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
