In case anyone forgot, "Harry Potter" is my life passion. So I decided to play Sorting Hat and place all my fave female characters in Panhellenic Sororities at St. John's University because let's be honest--they are all too badass to not be in Greek Life.
alpha Kappa Delta Phi
Cho Chang
Not only is she breathtakingly beautiful, but she's also incredibly kind, smart, and loyal. She perfectly embodies the motto of aKDPhi, "Timeless Friendship Through Sisterhood". Diamonds would definitely be this girl's best friend!
Alpha Sigma Alpha
Minerva McGonagall
McGonagall is quite possibly the most influential female at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She's tough, she's brilliant, she's sarcastic and witty, and most of all she loves so deeply. Underneath her hard façade is the heart of a woman who is always willing to put others before herself. According to the vision of ASA, their sisterhood "Inspires women to lead, to serve and most of all to make a difference". If Minerva doesn't best represent these values, I don't know who does! Congrats to the ASA sisters for scoring such a baddie.
Delta Phi Epsilon
Luna Lovegood
Luna is one of the most inspirational characters for young women. She believes in the impossible no matter what anyone else thinks, she believes in herself despite always being underestimated, and she always has an optimistic outlook even when she was captured by Voldemort. With the DPhiE motto of Esse Quam Videri, which means 'To be rather than to seem to be', Luna Lovegood would fit nowhere other than with the Deephers. On the outside, she is a strangely quirky and timid girl. No one really takes her seriously, but that never stops her. She is as intelligent as any Ravenclaw would be and stands up for what's right despite what the majority believes. Luna couldn't possibly live any other way than through Justice, Sisterhood, and Love.
Gamma Phi Beta
Bellatrix Lestrange
I'm sorry, I couldn't not "sort" her. She's fiercely beautiful and one of the most powerful witches of her time. So hear me out my lovely Gamma Phi baes! Gamma Phi Beta was formed by four lovely ladies who were tired of being made to feel inferior simply because they were women. Bellatrix, is a woman who defies all Death Eater stereotypes. She is Voldemort's right hand woman and is infinitely more powerful than any of the male followers. But she's evil, so I'll give you another one...
Lily Potter
This one is a little more obvious. The official flower is the pink carnation, which according to legend, first appeared on earth from the Virgin Mary's tears--making them the symbol of a mother's undying love. I don't want to further break your hearts, so I'll just leave it at that. But the sisters of Gamma Phi Beta just gained two very powerful women!
Kappa Phi Lambda
Padma and Parvati Patil
In the Kappa Phi Lambda mission statement not only does it say they, "strengthen Sisterhood amongst women by providing service and promoting cultural diversity" but it also says they, "aim for academic excellence, keeping in mind the importance of education". The Patil Twins, along with others, help to bring cultural diversity to Hogwarts and are also extremely gifted witches who care deeply for their education, with a particular interest in Divination. These sisters would be an excellent representation of the values of Kappa Phi Lambda!
Lambda Phi
Fleur Delacour
Strangely enough, the Lambda Phi flower is fleur de Lis, but I swear I didn't know that before sorting her! This mesmerizing part-veela could have any man she laid eyes on, but she had far more important things to worry about. These Lambda Ladies say they "stand out as the sophisticated and mature ladies that we pride ourselves in being". With this flawless lady in their sisterhood, there's nothing they can't handle.
Phi Sigma Sigma
Ginny Weasley
Phi Sigma Sigma, congratulations on getting one of the most underrated and most amazing characters of all time. She is tough from having six older brothers, she's sassy, she's the most loyal friend, and is one of the most gifted witches her age. The symbol of Phi Sigma Sigma is the sphinx, which historically has many meanings. It symbolizes wisdom, which Ginny has a lot of. It also symbolizes mystery, which Ginny also has a lot of. She fits their vision, "To be a dynamic sisterhood of powerful women fostering uncompromising principals, igniting positive change and embracing individuality", more than anyone I know. Not to mention, she'd look great in blue and gold!
Theta Phi Alpha
Hermione Granger
Theta Phi Alpha holds a very high regard to the value of friendship similarly to Hermione. Hermione is constantly caught up with furthering her education and bettering herself, but despite being the most studious girl in her class, she still believes that friendship and bravery are more important. Part of Theta Phi Alpha's mission is to "Advance educational, social and philanthropic interests", which is of course very important, but they were founded based on creating lifelong bonds of friendship, which is the most important.
No matter what Greek organization you are a part of, we are all fiercely powerful women, and even more-so because of the Sororities we joined. Congratulations to you and all your magical new members!
