The surprising similarities between Hogwarts and Corban

If Corban Professors Were Professors at Hogwarts

Many teens and young adults of our generation missed out on the opportunity to attend Hogwarts. But do you ever wonder if maybe we got blessed with similar professors. The question is then, which Hogwarts professors would our Corban professors be?

1. Professor McGinnis as Professor McGonagall

Probably one of the most beloved of Hogwarts professors but by no means a pushover. Minerva McGonagall is firm and strict but possess a deep love for her students. She, like Professor McGinnis, likes to get students to think outside the box and become resourceful and successful in their own route. Now, our Professor McGonagall may be a bit more eccentric but whoever said Mcgonagall didn't kick up her heels?

2. Professor Stark as Professor Slughorn

Though Professor Slughorn doesn't show up until later in the series, he certainly makes an entrance. He, like Professor Stark, is a very amiable teacher who often gets off on rabbit trails of thought. He is quite knowledgeable and believes wholeheartedly in his students.

3. Professor Hills as Professor Dumbledore

One of the *cough* oldest *cough* and wisest of professors, Dumbledore certainly makes a name for himself and is able to connect with students in unique ways. And, like Professor Hills, there's a tiny twinkle of mischief in his eyes, because he knows something you don't.

4. Professor Jones aka Allen as Professor Snape

It is no secret that Allen Jones' classes are incredibly tough but we all secretly, or openly, love him as a teacher. Snape has a presence to him and he is incredibly knowledgeable. His classes are a challenge but oftentimes a really good one.

5. Professor Derickson as Professor Flitwick

Professor Flitwick is the smallest of professors and sports a wicked mustache, sound familiar? He, like Professor Derickson, may be a bit cooky but his classes are a ton of fun and a lot of knowledge, with a bit of wisdom thrown in.

6. Professor Foley as Professor Hagrid

Hagrid may not become a professor until the third book but he certainly earns a place in our hearts. He's exuberant and has a deep passion for his job. He, like Professor Foley, is a bit of a jolly green giant with a huge heart of gold.

7. Professor Tennant as Professor Trelawney

Professor Trelawney is described as quite whimsical and Professor Tennant fits that bill quite well. Neither really ascribe to a rubric but rather seek to improve students in their "arts" and broaden their minds.

8. Professor Wilson as Professor Lupin

Though only professor for a year, Professor Lupin becomes a lovely reoccurring character. He's very much a hands-on kind of teacher and, like Professor Wilson, moves at a fairly brisk pace. But he's a lovely mentor to his students and quite supportive in light of the hardships of life, mostly because he's "looked worse". I suppose I would too for eight and nine am classes.

9. Professor Trammel as Professor Firenze

Though not one of the more well-known professors, Firenze is actually a very soft spoken centaur. He, like Professor Trammel, prefers a more optimistic outlook on-life while being aware of lurking dangers.

10. Professor Harrison as Madam Hooch

Though she doesn't carry the title of professor, rather madam, Madam Hooch is a force to be reckoned with. She's a no-holds-barred kind of lady and, like Professor Harrison, jumps right into the subject matter. But she is incredibly kind to those who need it, usually those who injure themselves in the learning process.

11. Professor Anderson as Professor Lockhart

Someone once told me that Professor Anderson is a large Dad Joke. And that seems to fit Professor Lockhart fairly well. He oozes cheesiness and charisma. He may not be the easiest professor to have, but he certainly makes the class interesting.

12. Professor Kersey as Professor Sprout

Professor Sprout is sort of the epitome of sassy grandma at Hogwarts, like Professor Kersey is in many ways. She's a firm teacher, definitely don't want to get on her bad side but she's also super sweet.

We love our professors here at Corban. And who knows, maybe now they have ideas for Halloween next year.

Hope you enjoyed the list! Do you agree or disagree? Comment below!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
