A friend is someone very special in your life who I am very fortunate to have. Someone that I can talk to, someone that can cheer you up, someone that you can always say hello to. I am so fortunate to have such a friend who I met in high school, and I have always considered myself very lucky to have met this person. From my experiences, this is how I have come to define a friend.
1. A friend is someone you can always ask advice for.![](data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20654%20484'%3E%3C/svg%3E)
When high school came around two years ago, I did not think much of it: I knew I could manage; it was no big deal. But, I made some mistakes of my own, pushing my grades below expectations. That was until I met this friend in my second semester of freshman year. She was a person that always had a smile and always spoke positively. Since I was struggling a bit, I turned to her, and she helped me improve myself academically.
2. A friend is someone you can always trust
Towards the end of the year, I started to dip into a darker state. I was not really feeling it up to myself, and I did not smile a lot. This friend of mine immediately noticed this and asked me if everything was fine. At first I hesitated to tell her what I had wanted to say before. Finally, I decided to voice some of the tough things I was dealing with. Always having a positive attitude of never giving up, she told me to keep fighting even when the hard times come. Eventually things got better.
3. A friend is someone that is always by your side
To this day, I am motivated by this friend of mine. No person is perfect, and I still do have a occasional bad day in school. I know I will always have this friend beside me to support me and to be the fighting spirit that I may lack. This is a person I know I can always trust when things are difficult and who will help me overcome my own fears.
Life would be so hard if we didn't have friends to help guide and support us! Someone who can pick you up when you are down, a friend is a shining light on the worst days to the very best.
