There are a variety of ways to celebrate your wedding anniversary, whether you want to get away with your partner or spend time with family and friends. While 20th or 25th anniversaries get the most attention, you don't have to overlook your 1st - 10th wedding anniversary when it comes to finding ideas. A decade of marriage deserves a special celebration and one that's just right for the two of you.

Take a Vacation

After 10 years of marriage, getting away with your loved one for a much-needed vacation is a fun and romantic option. Traveling for a bit of rest and relaxation can be the perfect gift to yourselves for celebrating another milestone in your life. Treating each other to time away from responsibilities, stress, and work isn't such a bad idea. You can head back to your honeymoon destination if you have budget to spare, or visit another state that you've never been to.

Take a Day-cation

If you don't have time for a long trip, consider taking a day-cation with your partner. A day-cation is a shorter version of a vacation that still involves adventure but closer to where you live. Research destinations to visit that are 1-3 hours away with your loved one. You don't have to go too far to experience something new and explore with your partner.

Host a Dinner or Cocktail Party

Host an intimate dinner party or cocktail party with a few friends to celebrate your marriage. If you have a close-knit circle of friends and couples you often celebrate occasions with, consider planning a fun dinner party or cocktail party to reflect on the past 10 years. Keep your guest list to 20 or under, send out dinner party invitations, and host at home

Go on a Road Trip

Rent your favorite car or take your own and hit the road with your loved one. If you and your partner enjoy long drives, taking a road trip is a fun and adventurous idea that doesn't require much planning. You can take a road trip to a restaurant in a different city you've always wanted to go to, head to the beach, or visit a museum. Be sure to check the weather before heading out, pack snacks that are easy to eat, and make stops along the way to take photos.

Go on a Picnic

Celebrating your wedding anniversary outdoors in great weather is another fun idea. You can pack food and drinks, bring a blanket, and take a wireless audio box with you to play music. Laying in the sun and putting your own spin on a traditional date idea can become an intimate and romantic way to spend time together.

Take a Boat Ride

If your significant other loves water, consider taking them on a boat ride, ferry, or a boat tour. Many boat rides offer food and drinks, and you're able to see your city in a whole new way. You can also consider boat peddling or canoeing at a local lake if you're looking for a more active idea.

Head to a Concert

While 20 or 25 year anniversaries hold the award for large anniversary parties, you can still organize and host an anniversary party for your 10 year anniversary. Plan an anniversary party, small or big, for this special occasion to celebrate with loved ones. Consider renting out a local venue if you're expecting over 40-50 attendees, be sure to send out anniversary party invitations.

Spend Time Together

As simple as spending time together may sound, this idea is the most important. If you're unable to get away or plan something out of the ordinary, a movie night or intimate dinner at home is just as meaningful. You can hire a babysitter, cook your favorite meal together, and rent a movie to finish off the night. Setting aside alone time to celebrate and reminisce on how far you've come in your marriage is always a good plan.
