1. Let's face it, she gave you life.

And you are actually eternally indebted to her for that.

2. Your mom probably taught you a lot of essential life lessons.

Like how to talk to boys or how to rock that bad hair day.

3. She only has your best interest in mind, even if it didn't always seem like it.

Just because she's not letting you roam the town at midnight with a bunch of delinquents doesn't mean she hates you.

4. Her investigative skills are being investigated by the CIA, themselves.

If you happened to mention someone you had a crush on she would know his blood type within the hour.

5. She can be pretty funny sometimes.

Except when she's not. But you love her anyways.

6. She helps you find the best clothes.

She dressed you herself for years when you were little and you still had friends, so she can probably help you out from time-to-time when it comes to fashion.

7. Additionally, she took you on shopping sprees.

(Obviously, this isn't the only reason you love your mother)

8. She probably loves to reminisce on her life back in the '80s.

Because of her you know about some of the best and worst fashion styles and music from that time.

9. She has no qualms about putting you in your place.

Came home from your first year of college with a hideous piercing? Better believe you'll hear what some people might have been too afraid to say.

10. She gave you, by far, some of the best advice you'll ever hear.

And you carry her life advice around everywhere you go.

11. She's one of your best friends.

You can tell her almost anything and she'll still love you.

12. She talks to you about guys and a bunch of other girly things.

I distinctly remember my mother going through my yearbook when I was in 5th grade telling me, "This boy will be cute when he's older!" Thanks, mom.

13. Let's be honest, she puts up with you.

She's probably apologized for you too many times.

14. She'll binge-watch stupid shows with you.

My mom watched Gossip Girl with me, looked up who Gossip Girl was before the last season, then said, "Oh, that makes sense."

15. She's definitely one of your go-to gals.

No matter how big or small the matter, your mom will hear about it.

16. She understands your occasional need to eat gross amounts of junk food.

Sometimes the night just calls for a ton of Hot Cheetos and chocolate.

17. When you're emotionally unstable, sometimes you just need your mom.

I've definitely called my mom while shopping because I was overwhelmed.

18. Sometimes she embarrasses you.

Nothing has ever described my life more than The Middle (ABC) has.

22. She makes sure you know how awesome you truly are.

Even in your awkward middle school years when you thought you were the armpit of the sixth grade class.

23. She might even be your hero.

And she is.

Mom, you are my hero. Thank you for all that you have done for me. Your support and friendship has meant the world to me. Thank you for your strength and your heart. I love you.

Love, your daughter

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
