Why I'm Pumped For 'Suicide Squad'

You've caught my attention, DC. Don't disappoint me.

In the past, I have not been too impressed with DC movies. They're all so dark, somewhat cheesy, and I always end up asking "why so serious?" Get it? That was a Joker reference. Oh well, moving on. This superhero void I was feeling forced me to obsessively watching Marvel movies. The characters are iconic, relate-able, smoking hot (I'm looking at you Captain America), and not to mention all have creative back stories. However, as we Marvel fans know, thanks to Tom Hiddleston's portrayal of Loki, the only thing more intriguing than an amazing hero is a memorable, downright bad ass villain. With the recent DC superhero movie flops, it was only time till they resorted to this strategy. And I am so excited. It's about damn time they brought out the bad guys (and girls!) to play.

If you've seen "The Dark Knight," then you know DC can successfully do villains. Heath Ledger's Joker made that movie. No one watches "The Dark Knight" to see Batman do some flips or drive his Batmobile real fast. They watch it to see the Joker (at least I do). In fact, I didn't know the actual title of this batman movie since there are like three of them. I got confused, so I looked it up in Google as "the batman movie with the joker" and it instantly came up. Because of the notoriety of Heath Ledger's Joker, this has been the only DC movie I've gone out of my way to watch more than once. This is because The Joker is such a complex character and I notice new things about him every time I watch it. It wasn't just the classic Joker makeup that made this character, it was the mannerisms, how he walked/ stumbled everywhere, talked, laughed hysterically, and the weird ass tongue thing he did that made this Joker so memorable and scary.

The elephant in this theoretical room is how Jared Leto is going to portray the new Joker. He has a massive legacy to live up to! Is he going to be able to create a Joker-worthy of succeeding Heath Ledger's? So far, the trailers look promising. I'll put the links at the end for y'all. He's obviously influenced by a different comic book Joker than Ledger's, but you want to know something? Leto's Joker is actually quite terrifying. He's got the makeup and green hair, the snarling voice, the tattoos, the cackling laugh, and the new snazzy clothes. He's scary now, just wait till we see him in action! Leto's Joker is going to be a departure from Ledger's, and as long as we keep an open mind, I believe we will not be disappointed.

Besides The Joker, I'm also pumped about all these new characters I've never heard of! There's Deadshot played by Will Smith, Enchantress played by Cara Delevingne, Harley Quinn played by Margot Robbie, and Captain Boomerang played by Jai Courtney. But wait, there's more! Katana, Diablo, Killer Croc and many more are featured in Suicide Squad. Like I said before, I've never been a big DC fan so I don't really know anything about these characters, but that just makes me anticipate this movie even more. I'm so curious about the characters, their back stories, and why they are a part of the suicide squad.

What I'm also excited about are the female characters. I'm pretty sure this is the live-action debut for Harley Quinn, Enchantress, and Katana. These leading ladies aren't leaving the dirty work to the men, either. They're pretty awesome, not going to lie. Harley Quinn has extra emphasis on her in the trailers, probably due to the fact that she's the Joker's girlfriend/accomplice. No big deal. Nah. Could this be a possible plot twist since the Joker isn't in the suicide squad? Could they actually be hunting him down? I really hope so.

Now, down to the serious business. How about that soundtrack?! Holy crap! "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Blitzkrieg Bop"?! With gun shots coordinating with the music? Beautiful. Music to my ears. Nothing makes me more into a movie than a kick ass soundtrack. Perfect songs. 10/10. Agh. I'm done.

Watch the trailers and comment what you think. I'm intrigued to hear your opinions! Are you as excited as I am?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
