February 14th is here, and we all know what that means. The day that couples give flowers and go on dates, and the subject of love is all around. Although Valentines Day is a day that we spend being showered with love from our boyfriends, family, and other special people, here's to the girls who are spending today still single, discouraged, and not feeling very pretty.
You may be alone, thinking that the reason you are single is because you are ugly and flawed. I, like most girls, find myself doing the same thing. Looking in the mirror, and not feeling very "pretty" because my feet are small, cheeks are chubby, and I hate the size of my thighs. However, beauty isn't measured by your physical appearance or if you are single or not
Beauty is talking to the girl that everybody else talks about.
Beauty is always having a smile on your face, because someone you don't know may need that.
Beauty is sending a sweet text message to your best friend just because you are thankful for them.
Beauty is giving your mom a foot massage because she stays on her feet for you every day.
Beauty is going fishing with your dad, just to spend some time with him.
Beauty is being there to hold your crying friend during a tragedy.
Beauty is complimenting the "weird" girl on her shirt, even though all your friends talk about her.
Beauty is loving on anybody and everybody you talk to on a daily basis, because that is what Jesus would do.
You are truly beautiful when you become confident in the fact that God created you in his own specific and unique way.
You are not single because you are ugly and flawed. You are single because God wants you focused on Him right now. You are single because He is constantly loving on you and trying to remind you just how important you really are. You are single because He wants you to find your beauty in loving others the way He loves you. He wants you to embrace your singleness, just so you can fall more closely in love with Him. He is leading you down the path that will one day bring you to the man whom you will be a God fearing wife to. So, we shouldn't worry about being single now, because we are loved by a Man who thinks we are beautiful, even if we are spending today alone.
I pray that you don't go about today feeling sad and not beautiful because all of your friends are on dates with their boyfriends, but take it as a blessing because God is preparing you for the man that you will be spending Valentines Day with for the rest of your life.
Hebrews 6:5 says "and so it was that she, having waited long and endured patiently, realized and obtained what God has promised". I pray that my future husband is spending today loving no one else more than he hungers and desires for God. I pray that he is saving himself for me, knowing that my heart is in the hands of the Lord, and the only way he can get to it is by having a relationship with Him.
