I Have Fallen in Love

If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.

So I know what you are thinking: Oh no, here goes a girl telling a story about how she fell in love with some guy and he broke her heart, and she learned a whole bunch of stuff about herself and how she learned her true worth. This is far from your typical Cinderella moment. It is much better.

As cliché as it sounds, I never thought that I would fall in love, and it happened. Now like I said, this is not your typical love story.

This is the story of how I fell in love with my major.

I did not start school with the major that I am currently in. After taking General Psychology during freshman year, I fell in love with the subject and decided that is what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

Looking back, I have always loved listening to people and hearing where they come from. Learning why people act the way they do is so interesting to me. When I was in high school, I was having a conversation with my friend and they were telling that I was great listener, and then I proceeded to ask if I could just listen to people for the rest of my life. I did not realize that that was an option until taking my first psych class.

After taking multiple psych classes, I fell more and more in love with what I was doing. This year, I am taking biological psychology, and it is one of the most interesting classes that I have ever taken in my life. I looked forward to going to this class every other day.

If you ever talk to me about my major, my face will light up. It is the same face that my friend gets every time she talks about her boyfriend. Every time I see a picture of a brain, I flip out and go on and on about how interesting the brain is. My friends will just stare at me. But I just find it so fascinating.

It feels so amazing to be so in love with what I am doing with my life. Knowing that I am so happy with the career path that I chose has helped me to know that I will be happy for the rest of my life. Being happy and loving what I do it all that matters. I am so happy to be in love with what I am doing.

I hope that you all fall in love with what you are doing like I have. It is an amazing feeling to wake up and enjoy what you are doing.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
