Guard Your Heart
Miah Byrd

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." - Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

Guarding your heart is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. We are so quick to give up all of our heart and ourselves to someone so undeserving of something so special. Am I suggesting cutting out relationships and keeping your heart all to yourself? Of course not! I am simply urging you to be careful of who you share your heart with.

One too many times I have given my heart up to someone who I thought loved me only to find them later shredding it into pieces leaving me with emptiness. Proverbs 4:23 tells us above everything we do, we need to guard our heart. So how exactly do we guard our heart?

Give it to God. Giving your whole heart to God will give Him the opportunity to put it in the hand's of the right person HE has picked out for you. When your heart is in the hands of God you can rest assured it is safe. Deuteronomy 31:8 tells us that God will never leave or forsake us. Earthly love is nothing compared to the love of God.

After one of my break ups my mom quoted Matthew 7:6 to me and it has stuck with me and helped me since that day. It says, "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to the pigs. If you do they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces." This verse warns us to protect what is sacred to us. Why would someone in their right mind throw pearls to pigs? We should ask ourselves the same question: why would we quickly give up our heart to someone so undeserving of it when there is someone God has for us who is worthy of something so special? Someone who will protect and care of it like God intended?

Give your heart to God, you can trust Him. I promise you won't regret it.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
