Have you ever heard of Panorama Music Festival? If you haven't, you've come to the right place. This highly anticipated festival is setting up shop in New York City, July 22-24. Taking over Randalls Island Park for the weekend, this festival has so much in store for its inaugural attendees.
Goldenvoice, the event producers behind the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, announced plans to launch Panorama Fest last year in September. The festival aims to bridge the gap between music, art and technology. In addition to music performances, there will be interactive installations, like the FutureLab, and extensive food options from all five of the city's boroughs.
When word surfaced of this festival, which hadn't even received a name yet, a petition was addressed to Mayor Bill de Blasio to stop AEG, the corporation behind Coachella, from getting approval to host it. Promoters of the Governor's Ball stated in the request that Panorama requested the same dates in the same park as the Governor's Ball and that it would cut into their ticket sales. So instead of two weeks after GovBall, Panorama will happen a full seven weeks later. The petition received nearly 9,000 signatures. However, it's clear that the show is still set go on.
“We look forward to bringing Panorama to New York City and introducing a new festival that showcases today’s top music acts," said Goldenvoice Festival Producer Mark Shulman in an official statement. "We’re committed to creating an event that will provide significant benefits to New York City with the level of experience and meticulous attention to detail for which Goldenvoice is known.”
The impressive lineup features LCD Soundsystem, Kendrick Lamar, and The Arcade as headliners. Other acts include A$AP Rocky, Schoolboy Q, SZA, Sia, Alabama Shakes, Jai Wolf, Run the Jewels, and much more. Check out the full lineup below.
Panorama will be the second major music festival in NYC. Furthermore, passes not only include admission to the festival, but also free admission to the Queens Museum, where the Ramones retrospective will run from April 10 through July 31. The Panorama of the City of New York exhibit is also on display.
