In the last chapter of Matthew, Jesus says, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," Matthew 28:19. This seems like he is Him telling his disciples to gather people for the church, but it actually more than that. The Bible was written by God for us, all of us. He is outside of time and space and the word is relevant to all people. So what does that mean in relation to this verse? The Lord is calling us to go make disciples! So do you have to drop everything you are doing and go around the world trying to gather people and convince them to give their life to God. No, the Lord does want you to gather people for him but there are so many ways to do this. You can gather people for him while being a student, accountant, or working at a restaurant. We do not all have to become missionaries or Priest to serve the Lord and make disciples.
The best way to gather people for the Lord is just loving them. God is love and when you show people love you are literally bringing God to them. When you choose to live a Christ centered life the Lord will bring you so much joy and honestly it can be kinda contagious. When people see the joy He is giving you; a real, pure, joy then will want that to. Just welcome people with open arms and show them all the amazing things the Lord can do just by living your best life. Inspire them by loving the people around you when it's hard or going out of your way to help a friend. Do not be afraid to welcome people into your life and share the gospel with them just by the way you live. As St. Francis of Assisi said, "Preach the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary."
Talk about God and share your story. Let them know how he has worked in your life. This is discipleship. Growing with others and trying to lead them to God not by big fancy gestures or going around the world to find people who have never heard of Jesus. It's just making true connections with Gods people and helping each other grow in Christ. We are all called to different things. Some of us may be called to be teachers, lawyers, or doctors. Some of us may actually be called to world missions where we actually are traveling the world and spreading the gospel but that is not the only way to make disciples.
We are all called to bring people to God and we can do this in any job or time in our life. Just show people the beauty of God by loving. If you show them the true joy of living for God you have done your job.
