All I Want For Christmas

This year is not much different from last and I still want the things I ask for every Christmas.

As nice as it would be to say "All I Want For Christmas Is You", let's be real - a boy has needs. With this Christmas, I'm hoping to get everything on my list. It will be a Joy To The World and I certainly won't have a Blue Christmas if my very few wishes are fulfilled. Let me begin...

Dry skin is such a wonderful gift this time of year. I enjoy looking like I shave with a cheese grater and apply chapstick with a fork. So this year, I plan to avoid the seasonal rough patches with the Bliss blood orange + white pepper sugar scrub. It gently exfoliates while pleasing your (undoubtedly) stuffed nostrils!

Another gift of the winter season is perpetually cold feet. My toes never have a chance to thaw from their frozen state as I trudge through the sinking temperatures of mid- January. This year I'm asking explicitly asking for three pairs of short knit socks from World Market to warm my feet and heart. They will be rather soft additions to my ever-growing collection and they last forever with an unparalleled quality.

To go over my newly acquired socks will be a pair of special shoes. I'm requesting a new pair of LL Bean boots for this Christmas. They are handmade and for duck hunting, however that last part doesn't really mean anything. These boots are exquisite for the winters harsh elements and their uncanny waterproof-ness similar to that of galoshes. Water won't penetrate the rubber bottom nor the leather upper of the shoe and the design is the same since 1912 as "warm, dry feet haven't gone out of style in over one hundred years."

The final item on my list is peppermint tea. But not any kind of tea. I'm asking for Celestial's Candy Cane Lane flavored tea packaged in the brightly colored box. It embodies the spirit of the holiday season and warms my tummy. It is as physically pleasing as it is mentally - there has been research which proves the presence of a warm cup in one's hands to boost his or her mood. I even have a special mug and a mug sweater to provide protection from its hot contents.

All of these gifts are to make my winter more tolerable. I highly suggest them for anyone with similar taste or if you are out of ideas for what to buy college students, parents, grandparents. Everyone loves a themed gift. Throw in a gift card to their favorite coffee shop to enhance the package! Happy holidays to all and may your time with those you love be merry and bright!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
