This is far from the first piece on this election, and certainly, it will be far from the last. Nevertheless, my message remains:
If this election has shown me anything it is that our nation is comprised of an even more vast range of individuals and contrasting viewpoints than I previously thought. Throughout what most would consider a pretty significant portion of this race Donald actually performed relatively well in the polls. My concern for the future of this nation, a concern which I shared with many others, was at its peak. I’ve since calmed myself (mostly).
The troubling reality of the situation is that this nation is home to many people that would not only settle for a Trump presidency but would wholeheartedly endorse one. The implications of this are profound. The fact that there are apparently so many citizens of this nation that would readily endorse racism, bigotry, xenophobia and misogyny is deeply troubling.
Beyond Donald’s abhorrent stances on various social issues (the issues which conservatives often claim liberals focus too intently upon), his attempts at policy architecture are nothing short of pathetic. Do I have the answer to America’s economic troubles? No, I do not. Do I presume to have the answer in the way that Donald has? No, I do not. But am I attempting to become the President of the United States? No, I am not.
It has been shown, through nonpartisan analysis, that Donald’s plans could cost America approximately 3.5 million jobs. As if that wasn’t bad enough, his plans are also projected to contribute approximately $10 trillion to the national deficit. His policies are rooted in attempts to make the wealthy (like himself) more wealthy at the expense of the nation.
Indeed, a Trump presidency would be bad for this nation. It would not only threaten the progress that has been made in areas of social justice, but it may very well pull the ground on which we stand as a nation right out from under our feet.
For the sake of this nation and for the sake of the countless individuals that are members of largely marginalized populations, vote for Hillary Clinton.
For the sake of preventing the propagation and legitimization of rape culture, vote for Hillary Clinton.
For the sake of allowing women and LGBTQ+ citizens to enjoy civil liberty, vote for Hillary Clinton.
Vote for Hillary Clinton.
