While everyone has their own opinions of the year 2016, we can all agree it was one …eventful year. So many things happened this year we would never have expected. I mean what was the deal with the clown apocalypse that suddenly died off? How did we let Trump and Hillary be our presidential candidates? And seriously cave man SpongeBob took over the internet? Well at least this bizarre year is coming to end. Here are a few ways you can stay safe and have fun on New Year’s Eve.

Drink smart

Alcohol is illegal if you are under the age of 21. However, due to the fact that I do not live in a bubble of isolation, I know that there will probably be more underage drinking on Saturday night than there will be legal drinking. If you are drinking on New Year’s Eve just remember to drink smart. If your body is telling you it can’t handle another beer or another shot LISTEN TO IT. You're drinking to have fun, not end up in the hospital. Know your limits and drink within moderation. AND DON’T DRINK ON AN EMPTY STOMACH. If you’re going to drink to the point of throwing up, at least have something in there to come up – no one likes the dry heaves.

Stay with someone

This one’s important. Whether your intoxicated or not, stay with a friend all night. Know that there’s a safe person close by that you can go too if someone’s making you uncomfortable, asking you to do something you don’t want to do, or you just want to go outside for air. It’s just in your best interest to stay close to someone you can trust all night.

Don't take mixed or open drinks from anyone

We all like to think that the bad stuff we see in movies or TV won’t happen to us when it comes to drugging a drink but in reality, it can happen to anyone. It’s a scary thing to think about but to be certain it won’t happen to you; get your own drinks or watch someone make you one. Do not accept a drink from anyone unless you saw them open it or mix it.

Stay off the roads

Whether your drunk or sober, someone out there will be drunk driving. Someone is not as smart as you will be and someone will be a life threatening danger that night. Just stay in one place and don’t risk your life or other lives.

Have fun

There’s no point to even go out if all night you’re going to be worrying about how you look, who your ex is with, or who's flirting with who. Just have fun. It’s fun to be celebrating the end of this year and the beginning of a new one. Enjoy the night in real life not through snapchat. And don’t miss the fire works!!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
