If you’re anything like me, you can never say no to an opportunity. As soon as you hear about a new club, job, or internship, you’re always first in line to apply or sign up. Here are just a few of the things that tend to happen when you consistently overcommit:
1. Your friends tell you that you’re crazy, but you ignore them and keep doing you.
Whenever you tell your friends all of the commitments you’ve got lined up, they automatically tell you that you’ve got to chill. Uhm, have they ever met you? Being “chill” is not something you do. You’ve got a resumé to build and you aren’t slowing down for anyone.
2. Sleep becomes a luxury.
The word “nap” is no longer used in your daily vocabulary. You no longer have the time to even think about it. When you finally reach the end of the day where you can crawl into bed and cuddle up in your covers, no other feeling can even compare. After all, sleep is the real bae.
3. Overbooking happens more than you feel comfortable admitting to.
It doesn’t matter if your planner is the most organized masterpiece that ever existed. Someway, somehow, you are going to schedule a meeting at 4 p.m. when you also have to show up to work at the same time. Ugh.
4. You’re never home.
And when you are home, your roommates look at you as if you’re a stranger.
5. Even though you get exhausted, you wouldn’t change your hectic, overcommitted lifestyle for anything.
Sure, maybe you haven’t been able to watch your favorite Netflix show and haven’t really slept a full eight hours in over a week. When it comes down to it, however, you feel pretty accomplished that you’re able to handle everything (well, mostly) that comes your way. Keep killin’ it. #werk
