Everyone has pet peeves, but these are five of the biggest frustrations on our LSU campus.
1. When people ride bikes through the Quad. It’s the busiest place on campus, especially in the morning before classes. I don’t care how good of a bike rider you are, you cannot maneuver through all those people. It is also so annoying that I have to squeeze up next to the person I am walking next to just to let you by. I am already out of it. It is 8 a.m. and I just woke up.
2. When the person in front of you stops to talk to someone right in front of you. Move, please. I had a good pace going. Move to the side and continue your conversation before this herd of 300 people behind me gets pissed off, too. Chances are, I’m already pretty angry because I have class, and you just stopping made me even more angry.
3. When people walk slow because they are texting or on the phone. Again, please move to the side or sit on a bench to continue your conversation. It makes us look rude that we have to speed and go around you just to get to class on time.
4. When girls act like they have not seen each other in 10 years. “OMG! Hey girl!” And they give a giant hug that blocks whole walk way. Can you not? I know it has not been that long since you have seen each other. Maybe an hour, hour and a half tops. You really don’t miss each other that much and those of us around you feel it is unnecessary to do that. So, please, save it for another time when you really miss each other.
5. When the union walkway is packed with people handing out free stuff. I don’t have enough hands to carry my phone, my water bottle, 15 ads, some candy, and a free drink from Coca-Cola. All of the stuff is nice, but I am really just trying to get to class on time, and I know that is not going to happen with all of this stuff in the way. Occasionally, I will take the Coke and candy, but just to jumpstart my day.
The point is that LSU is a huge campus and all but only few spots are packed. It is incredibly annoying when you cannot get to where you need to be because of people stopping in your way. I am all for exercising and being social on campus, but if you are going to stop, just move to the side and get out of the way for other people. You don’t know how rude some people can be on Monday mornings. Yikes!
