I was always big on fitness. I grew up living a healthy lifestyle, running track and playing volleyball. Once junior year came around I decided to stop running track, and that's when I started to really focus on fitness and working out. I have two girls to thank for my fitness success; they are known as Karena and Katrina from Tone It Up. They created a massive fitness empire for women. I found them in 11th grade, and I have been following them ever since.
They have one of the most underrated programs, I think, of all time. So many college students have been turning to Kayla Itsines, when you could be getting some kick ass workouts for free. The great thing about their workouts is that they work tiny muscles that you didn't even know you have, and trust me you will feel it for three days after working out. The great thing about their website is they teach you its okay to miss a workout, or that it's okay to eat a piece of cake at a family party. This goes into the next part of my article, working out at SUNY Cortland.
We have this beautiful brand new facility, that seems to make working out less painful (if you don't like it.) But sometimes it's easier said than done. Unfortunately with a new facility there comes tight spaces and less room to work out. The other thing that stinks is the facility is a pretty far walk for most people, but no need to fear I'm here to help if you don't feel like working out next to grunting people.
My first tip is to utilize body weight: you don't need weights to really get a killer workout, your body can be enough resistance. So do some squats, lunges, push ups and crunches and you got a full body workout coming your way.
My second tip is if it's nice out (which is rare in Cortland) go on a run or a walk. It's a great way to get a full body workout in and some cardio.
My final tip is all about nutrition, don't be scared to indulge one night a week. I promise chocolate can help your stress and solve some problems.
To end off, check out Tone It Up if you are in need of a great full body workout right in your dorm room or living room. And don't forget it's okay to take days off for your mind or to your body to just relax, college is stressful and sometimes working out is the last thing students want to do.
