Fashion trends define decades, and they are always changing. We all have idols from the past that we would want to share closets with, so from the silver screen and the tabloids, here is a recap of our favorite fashion icons/trends that have continued to make an impression on society and the styles today.

1950s

Marilyn Monroe

The famous white dress that took everyone's breath away. Monroe, an American actress, model, and singer, symbolizing sex and fashion in the 1950s. The white blonde hair and red lips did more than create the world's most popular fashion statement.

The French version of Marilyn Monroe, symbolizing and portraying the same lustful tastes. She swept us away with her elegance, something that was frequently sought after in the 1950s and 1960s.

Audrey Hepburn

Cute, bubbly, and the women's woman. She was a British actress who swept Hollywood during the Golden Age of Hollywood and into the '60s. What a charmer. The glitz and glamour were only ornaments to her personality.

1960s

Twiggy

She was a prominent teen model in the 1960s London scene. Most known for her short hair and makeup that made her eyes pop.

Jackie Kennedy

Although she is one of our favorite '50s girls in "Grease," Newton-John was popular for her fashion sense in the '70s. She traded bell-bottoms for poodle skirts, but remained a beauty on America's silver screen.

1980s

Molly Ringwald

Madonna

Not only did her songs reach the ears of everyone in the '80s, but her dignified pop star style made a fashion statement very similar to Lady Gaga. She embodied the '80s rock and roll leather outfits, shoulder pads, teased hair beyond belief, fingerless lace gloves and cone-shaped bras, making every woman want to perform "Like a Virgin" on stage at least once.

1990s

Spice Girls

With each spice girl having a personality of her own, their fashion sense and outfits ranged from "scary" to "sporty," letting them show everyone what they really, really wanted. You're either "posh" for the form-fitting designer dresses and heels or "ginger" for the liveliness, zest, and flaming red hair, but no matter what, they made everyone "Wannabe" just like them.

Christina Aguilera

Crop tops, high ponytails, and fringe: the ultimate guide to becoming Christina Aguilera. In 1999, her sel-titled album brought us not only the song "Genie in a Bottle," but an outfit that powered through teens' wardrobes faster than Aguilera made dreads a thing.

Jennifer Aniston

Known for her fan-favorite role of Rachel Greene, Aniston had the perfect opportunity to rock fashionable '90s wear on the TV show "Friends." People would literally bring in pictures of her different hairstyles from to hairdressers across America, asking for "the Rachel." She made denim cute, leather boots a necessity, and built her credibility by working for Bloomingdale's and Ralph Lauren on the show. You couldn't go wrong with the Rachel Greene look.

2000s

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen

All of us '90s kids owned a choker at least once in our lives. The Olsen twins were girls' idols and, by far, made the best movies ever. Thankfully, their style was on point, so being just like them was easy. There weren't enough flare jeans, fur-cuffed jackets, and pink-lensed sunglasses in the world to make the early 2000s last a little bit longer.

Raven-Symone

Raven-Symone, or Raven Baxter, proved her fashion taste in her TV show "That's So Raven." She made it clear, many times, that all she wanted in life was to be a fashion designer. Her clothes were always her own creations, and of course, we loved them. Her spunky style set a new standard for the 2000s, and she even has her own clothing line.

Lindsay Lohan

"Mean Girls" premiered in 2004 and is to this day one of the most beloved movies of all teenage girls. We see not only Regina George walking the halls in total star-worthy outfits, but Cady Heron finding her inner "plastic" to rock some of the cutest plaid mini skirts, belly shirts and anything pink.

2010s

Kim Kardashian

Kim K. has taken her fame and made the most of it. She takes pride in her wardrobe, giving the red carpet a run for its money. Her style is more form-fitting, modestly revealing, and she continues to bring forth unexpectedly fashionable outfits. Her sex appeal compliments her form, wearing clothes none of us would confidently wear in public. Work it, Kim K.

Lauren Conrad

Conrad has been very influential in the fashion industry for many years, but she is still making as much impact as she was when she published her books "Beauty" and "Style."She helps create an easy, affordable and stylish look for all women, defining basics and necessities for your wardrobe to shine. Conrad continues to be a major contributor in the fashion world. She does more than follow trends; she makes them.

Blake Lively

Playing a rich young woman on "Gossip Girl," Lively was able to wear outfits that defined her character Serena Van Der Woodsen, creating an amazing wardrobe that every girl wanted to own. Lively continues to piece together fashion statements, most popularly recognized when she flawlessly pulled off her baby bump.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
