Some people dream of becoming a celebrity and displaying their talents in front of millions of people, but everyone knows with fame comes crazy fans. If you thought paparazzi with cameras were horrible then, imagine taking a glimpse on social media and discovering that you’ve passed away. Crazy, right? Here are the top five celebrity deaths!
- In 2012, Twitter blew up in an uproar after “RIP Cher” began circulating around the popular site. A phony tweet was started by a tweeter who pretended it was a CNN statement that said that she was found in her Malibu home dead. Kim Kardashian was one of the people who felt shocked and saddened about the fake dead and was happy to find out that it was a false claim.
- In 2000, Eminem was the victim of a death hoax after someone posted a picture of a severely damaged car from the supposedly “crash.” Then 13 years later, there was a video of someone being stabbed who was portrayed to be Eminem. The video captioned “Left nearly DEAD after being stabbed 4 times in NYC.” The accusation was false which was confirmed by his rep and stated that he was perfectly healthy.
- In 2006, Tom Hanks fell off a cliff while shooting a film. He was filming a movie in New Zealand where others were informed that he was indeed not dead. The next day Tom Hanks took a picture in California confirming his death was a hoax.
- Although Hugh Hefner is as old as dirt he hasn’t croaked as of yet, but according to NBCtoday.co, he passed away last year. The death hoax spread across the internet and a RIP Hugh Hefner sprouted on Facebook page. He celebrated his 89th birthday shortly after, which brought about pictures that were evident in him being alive and well.
- In September 2016, a journalist by the name of Chris Walker tweeted that Carlos Santana was found dead in his car by a family member. This accusation was false although Walker states she was told by a reliable source. After being asked he said he was referring to a different Santana and since then have been deleted. He acknowledges his mistake.
