Fall is the favorite season of many, and arguably one of the best times of year in Rhode Island. Since there are so many fall attractions and so little time, I’ve rounded up the best of the best ways to enjoy the autumn months in the 401!

To pick your own pumpkins…

Head over to Confreda Farms in Cranston.

Not only is the selection of pumpkins at Confreda Farms gigantic and diverse, but the experience overall makes for the perfect weekend activity. Pumpkins are priced by the pound, and the farm also offers a bakery where you can pick up freshly made fall treats.

To get your pumpkin spice fix…

Make a stop at Wright’s Dairy Farm in North Smithfield.

Not only is everything at Wright’s baked fresh daily, but the variety of pumpkin desserts is endless. From pumpkin rolls to pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, Wright’s has you covered.

And if you’re more of an apple cider person…

Don’t worry, there’s plenty of options for you too. Make the trip to Goodwin’s Farm Stand in North Smithfield, right down the road from Wright’s for some warm apple cider donuts. They only bake them on Sunday, so get over there before they’re gone!

For Apple Picking…

Jaswell’s Farm in Smithfield is the place to go.

With a welcoming atmosphere and a huge orchard on the property, you won’t find a better apple picking experience than Jaswell’s offers. When you’re finished picking for the day, head inside for some hot cider donuts and some of the best apple cider in the state!

For the Halloween lovers out there…

There’s no need to make the trek up to Salem to get a good scare! Haunted Hill in Cumberland will give you the same scare factor, without the endless lines and the ninety minute drive. Held annually at Diamond Hill Park, Haunted Hill is sure to be a crowd favorite year after year.

For those who are looking for a more family-friendly Halloween activity...

Check out the Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence.

This event is fun for all ages, and admiring the intricately carved pumpkins lining the park walkways is the perfect way to end a fall day.

And lastly, for some fantastic photo-ops and breathtaking views...

Make sure to spend an afternoon at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick to admire the bright foliage that we’re lucky enough to see every year in Rhode Island.

There’s no better place to enjoy fall than in little Rhody!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
