Why Fall Is The Best Season Of All

It’s that time of the year again. August is wrapping up and summer is coming to a close. Back to school commercials are in abundance and the nights are getting longer. This can only mean one thing: Fall is just around the corner. While all of the seasons are great in there own right, nothing can compare to autumn. There are many reasons to look forward to fall, but here are just a few things I am most excited for.

1. The attire

A change in the weather means one thing: Break out the leggings and oversized sweaters. Fall is great because it is socially acceptable to wear comfortable clothing. Yes, it’s nice to let your legs get some air after being cooped up all winter, but by the time fall comes around, all you want is to look cute while being comfortable. It’s a welcome change.

2. Scarves

To some, this may fall under "attire," but I feel that scarves deserve their own category. Scarves are probably the easiest way to accessorize, and they are adorable. Whether it’s a thick, wool infinity scarf or a pretty, patterned fashion scarf, one thing is for sure: Your neck will always be warm and fabulous.

3. The weather

For some reason, it always seems like the weather is either too hot or too cold. Fall weather happens to be just right. For only a couple of months out of the year, you can walk around without a jacket on but not feel like you’re about to die of a heat stroke. You could argue this about spring, but fall weather usually doesn’t have rain in the forecast.

4. Bonfires

One of my favorite activities is a good bonfire. Summer bonfires are great, but it’s usually so hot out that they’re not super enjoyable. Because the weather cools off in the fall, bonfires last much longer and are much more fun. Nothing seems to go together quite like a crewneck, some warm socks, s’mores, a bonfire and a beautiful, crisp fall night.

5. The scenery

Fall is arguably the most beautiful of the seasons. Nothing can compare to the colors of the trees. Oranges, yellows and browns are abundant. Even though everything around you is dying, its absolutely breathtaking. No other season gives you the picturesque landscape of fall.

6. The beverages

To most, fall means Pumpkin Spice Lattes. To me, fall means warm beverages. Whether you fancy tea, cider or coffee, there's nothing quite like a warm drink to warm the soul. After drinking iced beverages all summer to keep cool, it’s a nice change to have a cup of hot cocoa in the morning to start your day.

7. Halloween

While Halloween happens later in the season, it is probably one of the best, most underrated occurrences of autumn. Haunted houses are such a fun group activity. There’s something about walking around a cornfield late on a crisp autumn night waiting to get the crap scared out of you. Even if you don’t like scary things, it’s always super fun coming up with a costume idea. The opportunity to be someone else for a night is always one of the best parts of the year. If this still isn’t enough to convince you, carving pumpkins and watching cheesy horror movies with your friends has to do it. Some of my best memories come from Halloween.

8. The start of football season

If all of these things weren’t enough to make you fall in love, fall means that football is back. Curling up in front of a TV and cheering on your favorite team with your friends while eating chili and drinking beer is just another great perk of the season. Fall Sundays were meant for football, friends and family.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
