3 Reasons Why Having Sisters Is Awesome

Having sisters is the best thing.

3 Reasons Why Having Sisters Is Awesome

To start off, I consider myself quite qualified for this topic because I, unlike most, actually have six sisters. There are many reasons why I am thankful to grow up with such lovely and wonderful female role models.

The Clothes

My sisters and I have always been roughly the same size. Since most of us are close in age, when we are all living at home in the summer and on breaks, I have at least four other closets to choose from. Trust me, when you’ve grown up with good taste from your mom, fashion is high on the priority list. It is always nice to be able to have so many cute clothes to choose from. Not to mention the couple key items I “by accident" took and packed away in my closet. I have grown to realize what I like on my body and who is most likely going to have something like it in their closet.

Even after you think you have found the most perfect outfit you, of course, have to model it off in front of your sisters. Approval of all is usually the protocol before any big night.

Advice

Whether it be boys, what to wear, what to say or how to handle a situation, no one knows you better than your own flesh and blood. You couldn’t even imagine the times I have just driven around with my sisters and just talked, exchanging laughs, cries, annoyed rants and funny family stories. Advice is good when it's given by friends, but great when it comes from your sister. Sometimes it's nice to just talk about who we like, difficult circumstances surrounding our personal lives and just really anything with someone who knows you well (maybe even too well). Knowing someone is there to support you is really nice, especially when that person grew up with you. Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry, but my sisters always are by my side.

Backup

This may not make sense if you don’t have any siblings, but if you do, you'll know exactly what I mean. You see when you’re in a fight with your parents sometimes you need a little backup. Sisters, especially mine, are wonderful at this. They always have my back, whether it’s taking my side in a debacle or just supporting my claim (even if it is wrong). Sisters ALWAYS got you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
