For me, there is nothing better than having the ability to simply shut your eyes and suddenly be wherever you want to be, regardless of how real that world may or may not be. I can go there with the one thing I could never live without: my mind. I’ve known many people who claim they are not big thinkers and never claim to spend much time inside their own heads. For those people, I am going to do my best to try and provide some insider information to what it is like to be strong with your own mind.
The feeling of entering your own mind is something that I personally think is something unlike any feeling you could ever have in the physical world. In a weird way, it almost feels like magic. You breathe and then slowly shut your eyes, and once those eyes are shut the other senses start to fade. If there is music playing in the room, the sound that enters your ears slowly starts to fade to nothing, oh the sweet sound of nothing. Now you can no longer see, you can’t hear and now you’re starting to lose feeling. Normally first in your larger limbs, legs, arms and torso. Slowly that numb feeling it makes it up to your face, it too becomes overruled by the feeling of nothing.
Now, you are currently nothing. You can’t hear, see, feel, taste or smell; you’re only existing inside yourself. This is where the fun begins, for now, you have an entirely black canvas to work with. Want to go to a beach? Then think of the beach, think of everything that is the beach. From the smells of ocean water and street food. From the feeling of crisp winds pulling through your hair. Warm gritty sand moving between your toes and in between your foot and sandal. From the taste of salt in the air, and that bit of water you accidentally swallow when you get hit by a wave. From the sight of the birds soaring high above the shore line, and the sun rays reflecting off the curves of the water. Lastly the sound of the wave’s body slamming into the sand and the roar of the fury coming from the ocean’s heart.
You’re there now, standing on a sandy beach in a land crafted in the depths of your imagination. Yet it all seems so real to you because, in your mind, it is all real. The sand, the ocean, the wind, the birds, the warmth, it is all real when you’re in your own mind. This example is one of the trillions of things you can do with a little bit of thinking and a good imagination. If you’re someone who has never tried to just separate yourself from the world before, it has the potential to be a life changing experience. I would suggest it to everyone to take the time to simply lean back, relax and let your mind take you to all the places that your wallet can not.
