8 Masks To Keep Your Hair Looking Fresh
Fox in Flats

Hair is a complicated thing. For so many people, there's no "normal." Hair is dry, or brittle, or frizzy, or greasy, or flat, or wild; you get the idea. A great way to combat these hair types is by using homemade hair masks with ingredients you probably have already.

If your hair is suffering from any of the problems below, give these masks a try and you just might find one that works for you.

For oily hair:

Egg white and lemon juice mask:

Take the whites of one egg and beat until stiff peaks are formed. Add 1 tablespoon of salt, and the juice of one lemon.

Apply to hair and leave on for 30 minutes.

Rinse with lukewarm water (if you rinse with hot water, the egg might "cook" in your hair).

Shampoo and condition as normal.

Honey-lemon-aloe mask:

Mix one tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of aloe vera gel, the juice of one lemon, and an egg yolk.

Apply to hair and leave for 20 minutes.

Rinse with lukewarm water.

Shampoo and condition as normal.

For dry/damaged hair:

Avocado egg mask:

Mash 1 ripe avocado and one egg.

Apply to wet hair and leave for 20 minutes.

Rinse several times with lukewarm water.

Apple cider vinegar mask:

Mix 3 egg whites, 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil.

Rub mixture into hair, wrap in plastic wrap or a shower cap and leave for half an hour.

Shampoo and rinse.

For frizzy hair:

Honey-banana-yogurt mask:

Combine 1 mashed banana, 1/4 cup of plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil.

Apply to hair and scalp, cover with a shower cap, and leave for 30-60 minutes.

Rinse hair

Shampoo and condition as normal.

Coconut milk mask:

Put 2 tablespoons of coconut milk in a pan and heat until warm

Apply to hair, cover with a towel, and leave it overnight.

The next morning, shampoo and condition hair as normal.

Let hair dry naturally.

For thin/lifeless hair:

Oat mask:

Combine 3 tablespoons of milk, 3 tablespoons of oat flakes, 3 tablespoons of castor oil, and a few drops of vitamin A.

Massage onto scalp and leave for 20-30 minutes.

Shampoo and condition as normal.

Beer egg mask

Combine 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1/2 cup of flat beer (leave open for a few hours before use), and 1 egg.

Massage into clean towel-dried hair and leave for 20 minutes.

Rinse with lukewarm water.

Shampoo and condition as normal.

Not only are these hair masks a good way to give your hair a boost, they also make for a great way to just relax for a few minutes, even if it's just once a week. Mash those bananas, measure that honey, and give your hair some love!

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
