One of the best parts of living in a college town like Orono, Maine is all the deals that restaurants and bars make because they know we're all broke.

Here are some of the best places to drink and eat in the Greater Bangor Area:

1. Kobe

Every Tuesday and Thursday they have "Happy Hour" from 4-8 p.m. They have a menu where everything, including drinks are half off. Once you start going, you can't stop.

2. Harvest Moon

Harvest Moon has the best sandwiches ever all named after a famous person. They also have amazing vegetarian options.

3. Bagel Central

You will never be able to go to Bagel Central without it being a zoo and that's because the food is so good. You can get a breakfast sandwich and coffee for less than the price of Dunkin and it tastes so much better. And they have FREE iced coffee refills. Yes you read that right, free iced coffee refills.

4. Orono House of Pizza

Commonly known as OHOP, has the best pizza around. And now they have a bar! They have various deals throughout the whole week like 2-for-1 pizza every Monday, or $5 salads on Tuesday's. They also have drinks specials and brunch on the weekend that consists of $5 for a mimosa and a free slice of breakfast pizza.

5. Margaritas

Every Wednesday is college night! With your Maine Card you can get half off your bill and half off original or strawberry margaritas, frozen or on the rocks! Going to Margarita’s anywhere but in Orono just doesn’t feel right because you have to pay full price.

6. Family Dog

Fam Dog is one of the best places to hang out with friends especially when the weather is nice. They have outdoor seating, live music, and buckets of beer for $10, and there’s usually a few pups hanging around.

7. The Roost

Every Tuesday night is Wing Night. It’s all you can eat 29 cent wings from 6-10p.m. The Roost is also the place to be on Wednesday nights for karaoke!

8. Bear Brew Pub

The Bear Brew has NOT prepared college students for the real world. Every Wednesday they have “Dollar Wells” aka $1 for a bottom shelf mixed drink. You’re telling me after I graduate I’m going to have to pay $8 for a vodka cranberry? But they also have great food and do half off brick oven pizza’s every Thursday for college students with your Maine Card!

9. Woodman's

Spinach and artichoke dip is my favorite food and the best I've ever had is from Woodman's in Orono. They also have giant Flirtini’s for $10, good for sharing or for yourself.

10. Black Bear Brewery

This place is a hidden gem. Some people say it's too "hipster" for them but what does that even mean? They have delicious homemade drafts as well as pear cider and Mead which is a honey wine, yum! And they have live music from time to time and who doesn’t love live music?

11. Verve

It's just like Chipotle but better because its a local business and everything tastes better because it’s not a giant chain restaurant.

12. Orono Brewing Company

OBC is another fun place with locally brewed drafts to hang with friends.

13. Bear’s Den

The Bear’s Den on campus located in the Union is one of my favorite places to study and do homework. They have yummy food, Starbucks coffee, and beer, and there’s always good music playing. If you’ve never had the breakfast pizza from the Bears Den you’re seriously missing out.

14. Pat’s Pizza

Pat’s has been around since 1931. It’s a great family place for family weekend or homecoming or anything like that and they also have awesome deals throughout the week like their delivery special after 8p.m. that’s $10 for a large cheese pizza and free large breadstick! They use to only deliver to campus but they’ve expanded on where they deliver!

15. Nest

Nest is the newest coffee shop in town. They have delicious coffee and pastry’s and it’s a fun, cozy place to hang out or do homework!

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.
