Something I've come to learn over the past six months is that it is very easy to contemplate the many amazing things you could be doing with your life. It's easy to come up with thoughts and goals for yourself while sitting at home on your couch. One thing I loved doing when I had free time was to sit down, listen to music and imagine myself doing all these fun and exciting things such as starting my own brand, traveling the world and making my own music. It was very appealing to me to be able to have the thought of, "Yeah I will do that someday." These goals of mine were just mere thoughts of what my life COULD be like if I were to chase after them. The pictures I had in my head and the way I envisioned things was always good enough for me.
It wasn't until recently, a couple of months ago, that I really realized that life is short and there's only a certain amount of time I have here. It was then that I discovered I was a contemplator — a person who just thought about how great it would be to pursue my dreams. I decided it was time to stop contemplating them and instead just strive to reach them by doing whatever I can to do so.
In the past 6 months, I have done so many amazing things and met so many amazing people because I decided to stop contemplating all the things I wanted to do in my life and instead just started doing them. It's not hard. You just need to make the choice right now that you're done worrying about things in life that really don't matter; and you're going to chase after the dream you've had ever since you were a little kid. It is scary at first — let me tell you. Once you get over the fear of failure, there's nothing stopping you from reaching your goals.
Set your goals high, higher than you can even think possible and then, go for them. Don't think about going for them, actually get off your butt and make your dreams come true.
You only have one life to live. Let that sink in because most people don't. Most people are content with living out their lives on the so called "easy path" where they go through life making all the safe choices.
I have come a long way in the past 6 months on the path to achieving my dreams. Am I there yet? No. Not even close, but I am closer now than if I would have continued contemplating them.
Let me leave you with this quote by Les Brown.
"Imagine if you will being on your death bed – And standing around your bed – the ghosts of the ideas, the dreams, the abilities, the talents given to you by life.
And that you for whatever reason, you never acted on those ideas, you never pursued that dream, you never used those talents, we never saw your leadership, you never used your voice, you never wrote that book.
And there they are standing around your bed looking at you with large angry eyes saying we came to you, and only you could have given us life! Now we must die with you forever.
The question is – if you die today what ideas, what dreams, what abilities, what talents, what gifts, would die with you?"
