Like the infamous Nike sign says, just do it

"Should I do this?" "What will people think?" "No one is going to want to listen to me!" Any of this sounding familiar yet? After many similar conversations with myself, let me tell you something, DO IT!!! DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT MEAN ANYTHING ILLEGAL, MORALLY WRONG, OR ETHICALLY QUESTIONABLE!!! Now that I have potentially avoided anyone saying it was my fault they did something they shouldn't have... I want to share this with you. I have ridden the overthinking struggle bus for as long as I can remember. Let me tell you it has been a very expensive ride. I try to constantly do some soul searching and self evaluating because I think it's important and healthy, especially since no one is perfect and there's always room to grow. And well, I can't help but think on what my life would look like right now if I would have taken that leap of faith in multiple different scenarios.

I'm sure the story for most of us who have dealt with negative voices in our heads, have grown up in an environment where the word "NO" was so overused that you would take the liberty of telling your friends you couldn't do ____ or couldn't go ____, because your parents were going to say no. Granted, you might have put some effort and told certain friends that if they asked your parents for permission they might say yes, but I digress. The point I am trying to make is this, it seems like from the moment we come into this world we are being molded by constant limitations. ANOTHER DISCLAIMER: some of those things we are told we can't do are for good reason!! But honestly, you should never allow the voices and the opinions of people who are doing less than you dictate what's best for you.

Lets say that you are presented with a job opportunity, chances are that you have in a matter of minutes listed at least 3 different reasons why you can't do the job, or how you'll fail, or even why other people would tell you that you shouldn't do it. Problem is that we have adapted this way of thinking to talk ourselves out of anything that can potentially change our lives in a positive way. This may include a job, a relationship, and although it's not something that's limited, worst of all, we even do it with our own dreams and passions. So I am here to encourage you!! Take the job, start the podcast, learn a new language, become a business owner, start that YouTube channel, just do it. Take the risk, that leap of faith is all it takes. Do it scared, do it unknowingly, start changing those negative thoughts!!! You have no idea the experiences, the adventures, the growth, and all the wonderful things that can come out of doing the dang thing!! You are literally one choice away from a totally different life!!!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
