It's that jolly time o' year again. Here's your problem.

You're a popular kid. You've got lots of friends and family members to shop for. You have no money, no time, and no choice but to whip up a quick gift that'll make you seem thoughtful and creative. How are you going to do it?

You go to Pinterest for ideas, as any smart lad would. But you just don't have the talent to make chocolate-covered strawberries that look like Christmas trees. (Yes, that's a thing. Look.) Let's face it: you're hopeless.

My friend, I know how you feel, and that's why I'm sharing with you three D.I.Y. gifts that I've actually been able to pull off in the past. And if I can do it, I know you can. Let's go!

1. The Tasty Candy Sled

This one's a dandy. Plus, it's super easy to make and is bound to be remembered. Buy yourself a bag of chocolate bars, a couple of candy canes, and some ribbon. Stack the chocolate in a pyramid from largest to smallest (you can keep the bars secure with masking tape) and tie 'em together with some festive gift ribbon. Use two candy canes to serve as the "runners" of your sled, and voilà! A perfect gift for the candy lovers in your life. You'll also want to make one for yourself. Or two.

2. The Gorgeous Glass Ornament

Oh, yes. This one makes it look like you're more artistic than you actually are. It's so simple: pick up a box of clear glass (or plastic!) ornaments, then fill those suckers with whatever you like. Glitter, confetti, leaves, popcorn, photos, beads... it's up to you. Please fill responsibly-- don't forget to check the weight before you give these away. If they're too heavy for the tree, you'll be giving your buddy a foot full of glass shards for the holidays. Don't be that guy.

3. The Cozy Knit Hat

I know how this looks, but I promise you, it's doable. I have no idea how to knit, but thanks to hat looms, I don't need to! You can find these babies at craft stores near the yarn-- which you'll need a spool of anyway. They're super easy to use and it only takes a few hours to complete an adult-sized hat. These are amazing gifts for significant others, close friends, and the people in your life who deserve a little more than a candy bar. Be sure to make it in their favorite color!
