To My Future Daughter

Assuming my dreams will someday come true.

To My Future Daughter

My love,

I know that so far, we have only met in my dreams and right now, you are but a mere thought to me. I want you to know that now and forever, you have my whole heart. Just like I have my mom’s.

I am young and still have so much to experience before you come into this world. But over the past three months I have experienced a lot, I have seen things and learned about things that I want you to know. Listen closely…

First and most importantly, you are so loved.

I can tell you 100 times a day, every day of your life how much love surrounds you, however, you must always remember to love yourself.

I don’t want you to ever think you have to mask your true self.

You are beautiful, and that beauty goes so much further than the surface.

There is nothing that can limit the light you will radiate to all those around you. The world will try and tell you to change. It is hard not to conform, but you are so strong.

You will be so passionate, and able to accomplish whatever you set your heart to. Always be true to yourself.

Sometimes, the idea of bringing you into this world scares me, because this world is tough. There will be days you’ll feel that everything is against you. Do not try and cover up your pain, it is okay to cry. It is okay, not to be okay.

Your weaknesses will never define you.

What will define you is how you can hang on, when you feel like your heart has had enough.

Listen to me when I tell you to look for peace the right way. There is a fine line between looking for peace and looking to feelsomething. Understand the difference.

I hope that by the time you reach 18, this culture has changed. I hope that you never fall victim to somebody’s “hookup” and that you never loose sight of your worth.

Do not ever feel that you need to act like those around you, and always remember that saying no will empower you.

On another note, no matter what people tell you, there is no such thing as liquid courage. You do not need alcohol to become a social butterfly. You’ll never regret saying no and you’ll never regret drinking too little.

God forbidding a boy comes around who does not see you as the moon- let him go. You will hurt, but you will also learn.

All of that being said, do not be afraid of love.

You will know when it comes.

One day you will meet someone who will wake all those butterflies in your stomach with just one look. They will not just want you; but they will love you. They will hold you, and cherish you, and respect you. Understand that you are deserving of this love, and so accept it.

Life is all about balance. This balance may come naturally to you, or you might have to work hard to find it, like I did.

Things become easier when you find this balance.

You are going to make mistakes, and you are going to have regrets. It is all part of being human. Don’t hold grudges, always forgive. Stand tall in your beliefs, trust yourself, and be honest. Dream big. Always stay humble and kind.

Lastly, I hope you find strength in God and hold Him in your heart. I hope that His presence is always clear to you, like It is to me. His grace will guide you as far as you need it to.

I love you already and forever.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
