Countdown To The Sugar Bowl

January 2, 2016 a day that all Sooner fans are counting down to. Why you might ask? The Sugar Bowl of course! The Oklahoma Sooner's are set to face the Auburn Tigers at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Oklahoma for the Sugar Bowl. There are many things that Sooner fans are excited for that lead up to the big game.

1. The trip to New Orleans, LA.

Many Sooner fans will take a road trip or a plane ride to New Orleans, LA in order to enjoy the Sugar Bowl in person. It is always fun to travel with your best friends or go with your family.

2. Seeing a sea of crimson and cream in New Orleans.

You know it is game day when you walk outside and see a sea of crimson and cream, which are the University of Oklahoma's colors. You can bet that you will still see these colors when you walk outside before and after the Sugar Bowl.

3. Yelling "Boomer" and hearing someone yell "Sooner" right after.

We might be in New Orleans instead of Norman, but you can bet that if you yell "Boomer" there is someone around that will follow with "Sooner."

4. The chance to cheer on our favorite team to start off the new year.

The best way to start off 2017 is by cheering on our Sooners to victory with the rest of our OU family.

5. One last time to see our seniors play.

This is the last time we get to see many of our senior football players play for the University of Oklahoma.

6. Spending the day with family.

There is nothing better than spending the day with our thousands strong OU family.

7. Listening to the Pride of Oklahoma.

It is great to hear the Pride of Oklahoma play no matter if we are playing at home in Norman or in another state. It's always fun to count how many times they play "Boomer Sooner" because it never gets old to Sooner fans.

8. The feeling of game day.

There is no feeling that compares to the feeling of game day. Excitement and anticipation fills the air.

9. Being in the stands.

There is something special about being in the stands during a football game surrounded by your fellow Sooner fans. It might not be at home at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, but it is still exciting to be somewhere watching our boys play football.

10. Exploring New Orleans while wearing our favorite OU gear.

All the Sooner fans coming to New Orleans for the game will get the chance to explore the fun city of New Orleans while supporting our Sooners in our favorite OU gear of course. We have to represent our team before and after the game!

11. Adding one more victory (until next season of course).

Victory will be oh so sweet; especially when it is at the sugar bowl.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
