Hi, my name is Stress. Usually I go by Lottie, but right now I’m preparing for finals week, and I’ve become so overcome by stress that I feel like I actually am stress. I play it off, like I’m all cool and collected, but inside my head I’m falling apart more and more every day. And if you too feel like a sweater unraveling faster than it can be re-knit, then you may also be going through finals stress.
Usually I’m really great at working under pressure, but right now I just want to curl up in a blanket and watch some Grey’s Anatomy. So, from me to you, here is how I’m handling finals stress right now.
1. I feel like I have no clue what I’m doing, but I just keep doing it anyways.
2. Did I actually learn anything this last semester?
3. If I just keep eating, my finals will go away.
4. I have to pack my stuff AND study for finals at the same time???
5. If I just hide under my blankets in bed, my finals can’t find me.
6. Is that stress acne forming? Seriously? I can’t handle this too.
7. Is it really midnight and I haven’t done anything productive? Better get started.
8. Why did I take a full class schedule again? Do I relish torturing myself?
9. I’m so glad this year is almost over.
10. I've been working for half an hour, I need a break.
11. Ugh. Time to study for the next final.
So if you too are feeling the finals stress, don’t worry. You’re not alone. We’ve all been there, and we all handle it really badly. It’s okay to completely fall apart due to finals stress. Just order some pizza and pull yourself back together. We got this.
