Whether you are in New York or Chicago, or even in Hong Kong, college students in the city can all relate to how much the area around us varies compared to other colleges. We get a whole different experience and we all know that our first year was an eye-opener to our future.
1. Pick later classes.
You learned that going to class hungover is worse than nails on a chalk board, also taking the L bright and early only gets you cramped up with the morning rush hour.
2. Join more clubs.
Any city school student literally has the world at their fingertips. So many clubs and internships are offered.
3. Going out isn't everything.
First year you went out, mingled, and made friends ALL THE TIME. You learned that you should have stayed in to type that paper, instead of emailing your professor telling them your too hungover to make it to class. (Trust me I have been there).
4. Save your money.
I know it's hard, especially with the most amazing restaurants and stores all around us, but you no longer have the luxury of your parents. Try and use Groupon, which is awesome. There's always deals everywhere you go.
5. You have created a friend group you can rely on.
Whether they'll meet you at the library or host the pregame you, know you just gotta text the group message named some ridiculously funny name and one of them will show up.
6. Keep up with your health.
Stay fit and walk a lot. Eat right and avoid the drunk food.
7. Take advantage of the L instead of Uber.
Your bank account (and that of your parents) will thank you.
8. Use the library more.
You'll learn that you can get so much more done there.
9. You'll miss the dorm life.
ONLY BECAUSE you have no bills or rent to pay.
10. Take advantage of what the city has to offer.
Go to football, basketball, or baseball games. Enjoy all the concerts and food festivals.
