We live in a crazy world. We live in a crazy world that has crazy ideas and ideals. More often than not, the ideals of the masses do not match up with God's ideals. We need to get used to that. We also need to get used to Christians who have equally wrong ideals. Most importantly, we need to understand what God says by reading His word. Once we understand these things we can get off the hypothetical fence. As a Christian, you need to take a position on what society believes. Stop trying to live life in the middle. Talk to someone other than your Christian friends and stop worrying about your appearance. God makes it clear that He is not a fan of taking the middle ground. Matthew 23:25-28 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup says "and dish, and then the outside also will be clean. “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness." Who are we living for? Are we trying to make everyone happy or serve God?
Let me be clear, we should not be bashing people with our opinions, but if they are called into question we should defend them. Take a stand on hot button issues. Don't pretend like you have the luxury of not caring about these things. Opinions are everywhere. God does not need to use us but He chooses to. Accept the calling. We need to take a stand on what matters and tell others what God has to say. Imagine if the disciple John had been taking a walk down the road and he heard a crowd of people saying "Jesus could have risen but he might also be dead, we're all entitled to our opinion." Do you think "the disciple whom Jesus loved" would have kept on walking or let them know the truth? In the same way that John knew Jesus, we have received and experienced the Holy Spirit. We have a responsibility to get off the fence. Follow God and stop worrying about the world, it does not matter.
Galatians 1:10 "For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ."
