Three victims were found dead in an abandoned home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The bodies of Mohamedtaha Omar, 23, Adam K. Mekki, 20 and Muhannad A. Tairab, 17, were shot “execution style” and their deaths were ruled a homicide according to Wish TV.
Police Chief Gary Hamilton declared that the men were not gang related and Public Safety Director Rusty York dismissed the possibility that their deaths were because of their religion or nationality. The young men were not known to be part of any gang-related activities.
No further information has been released from the authorities about the incident and many people and communities have been expressing the need for a full and comprehensive investigation demanding that every motive be investigated. This incident affects the entire community and a full investigation is needed to bring justice to the deaths of the young men.
Linda Sarsour, Racial Justice and Civil Rights Activist, expressed the need for a full investigation on her Facebook giving only facts about this incident.
“ALL victims of murder deserve FULL investigations and we should be demanding them NO MATTER what the circumstances end up being,” Sarsour wrote. “NO MATTER what - no one deserves public execution. I don't care who, what, or why.”
Calling for a full investigation will only release the rumors and speculations about the incident and it is too early to conclude anything about the case.
Dalia Mogahad, Director of Research at Institute for Social Policy and Understanding, also gave her concern about this investigation on social media.
“Calling for a full investigation is the definition of *not* jumping to conclusions. Dismissing this as ‘gang related’ *is* jumping to conclusions. Not sure I get the reluctance either,” Mogahed wrote on Facebook.
There seems to be lack of attention given to this incident by authorities with their conclusions on the case thus far and especially during a “time of heightened time of heightened Islamophobia and criminalization of young black men,” Sarsour wrote.
