On April 15th, it was announced by Daily Cal that Kristine Sanders from UC Berkley decided to major in Disney.
At UC Berkley, you can in theory "make a major" as long as you have an advisor willing to make a list of required courses and follow it.
Disney has created many rides and attractions since it's opening in 1955 in Anaheim, California. It has prided itself on imagination and being "The Happiest Place On Earth."
Many of us grew up with Disney movies. Watching them with parents, and singing songs that are still popular 20 years later. Many of our childhoods are defined by Disney in some way shape or form. Some of us, have even gotten the opportunity of going to Disneyland or Disney World and experiencing its magic at it's core.
But, can you imagine actually going to any college in the US and declaring a major in Disney. That would definitely be the career path I would love to take. Taking courses in science, engineering, and creative thinking to possibly one day be a Disney Imagineer, and designing rides for the young and the old.
Critically thinking of every nook and crannie of each ride, and literally making magic for the park guests. You yourself could create a child's dream ride, and could potentially make or break a trip to Disney.
This UC Berkley student could be revolutionizing the college major, and contributing to the "You can be whatever you want to be when you grow up" mindset that a lot of college students have, and I think that it's the new wave of the future.
