According to a Carolina Alert message sent at 1:15 p.m., there was an active shooter on campus.
Shots were reportedly fired at the new Arnold School of Public Health building, which is located at the intersection of Assembly and College Street.
Students have been told to "seek self shelter" and to obey all safety officials.
Nikita Morse, a pharmacy student, is inside of the Coker Life Sciences building and says the lab doors have been locked as a safety measure.
All buildings around campus are on lockdown, including The Darla Moore School of Business, Thomas Cooper Library, The University of South Carolina School of Law, and all of Greek Village.
Multiple rooms around campus have been barricaded by students and professors.
Park, College, and Assembly Streets are closed to all traffic.
As of 1:56 p.m., there is no new information available according to @UofSC's Twitter.

At 2:35 p.m.: According to The State, Thom Berry of SLED announced that they are investigating this as a murder-suicide. Two are confirmed dead. No additional information has been given about the deceased.
