Another year, another birthday...another year, another birthday getting overshadowed by the world's favorite holiday. It doesn't matter if your birthday is December 1st or December 31st, when you're born in the last month of the year you're forced to share your big day with the season of giving as well. And that's not bad at all. Here's plenty of reasons why having a birthday close to Christmas is the best thing ever.

1. The world is in a good mood. Everyone gets so caught up in the spirit of Christmas that when your birthday does eventually come around, your friends are definitely more excited about it than they would be in a different month.

2. You only have to make one wishlist. It saves you time and energy when you don't have to make a birthday list six months after your Christmas list each year. One and done, baby.

3. There will most likely be snow on the ground on your big day. Everyone wants a "White Christmas" and the perks of having a snowy Christmas Day is that odds are the snow will be around on your birthday, too. So, you get a scenic Christmas and birthday, all in one snowstorm.

4. You start each new year with some pocket money. Christmas money and birthday money roll in and the next thing you know, you're starting your new year with some extra cash. It'll all be gone by February, but that's okay.

5. You might not have school on your birthday. If your birthday is any time after December 15, then you'll most likely be on winter break for it instead of at school studying for (and taking) finals, which is definitely something to cheer about. The first-half-of-the-month kids might not be so lucky.

6. ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas has you covered. If your birthday is any day before December 26, then you'll never be bored on it. There will always be some fun Christmas movie to watch as you blow out the candles each year.

7. Leftover Christmas dinner makes for a great birthday meal. This one caters specifically to the December 26-31 birthday kids who are lucky enough to enjoy insane amounts of leftover eggnog and cookies on their big day.

8. Christmas music at your birthday party. Because for some reason, nothing says "Happy birthday" to a December-born person better than "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "Jingle Bells."

9. You see your extended family. When your grandma comes to visit so she can go Christmas shopping with your mom, she makes sure to do it on your birthday. Then you get to see her again two weeks later for Christmas itself!

10. Christmas decorations at your birthday party. Don't bother buying any streamers or balloons, your wreaths and Christmas tree will double as birthday party decorations too. Having a birthday close to Christmas can be quite the money-saver.

11. And finally, if you're Christian, you get to celebrate your birthday with Jesus Christ himself. For some, it's a really powerful occurrence to share a birthday with their religious figure. It can make your birthday more special when you're lighting Advent candles before eating your cake.

As you can see, being born in December has many perks. Having a birthday fall so close to Christmas is something to celebrate, that's for sure.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
