"Never apologize for being sensitive or emotional, it's a sign that you have a big heart."

I consider myself to be a sensitive person; I feel emotions with high intensity. There have been countless times where I have been told I'm being 'too sensitive' or 'over emotional' about a situation. I used to take this as such an insult, and try and shut it off. I tried not to react to situations in an 'over emotional' way. But, it soon became apparent to me that being a sensitive person comes with it's advantages. And that we as people should accept them and use them for our benefit. I am going to discuss the good things that come along with being a sensitive person.

1. We get to feel the good stuff more deeply

Being a sensitive person, the lows can be extremely low. And, difficult emotions can be harder to do with being how intense you feel these emotions. On the flip side, you get to experience the sweeter things about life deep as well. Being a sensitive person, you get to feel the happier times of life completely differently than someone who isn't a sensitive person.

2. We are empathetic

People who are sensitive tend to be very in tuned to others around them and are able to pick up on things others might miss. Being aware like this can help you see if a friend is upset. You are able to feel their emotions with them and understand better what has made them feel the way they do.

3. We are creative

While sensitive people tend to be greatly affected on the inside by outside comments and actions, they can also use their sensitive side to tap into the creativity within. Yes, they might have to deal with the outside world more carefully than some but when they use their awareness and clarity to tap into their inner world, amazing things can happen.

4. We are intuitive

The one thing I have noticed most about this quality, is that you can read people and situations very well. Being sensitive and having the awareness we posses, helps us decide whether some situations or people don't have the right intentions. It can help us to leave a bad position that could potentially hurt us in the end.

5. We are unique

Yes, everyone is unique in their own way. Everyone has certain qualities about themselves that makes them stand out, and being a sensitive person is one of those qualities. We feel things differently than others. We can bring a whole new, unique, perspective to different situations that other may not have seen.

Whether it be high sensitivity or low, more sensitive people need to embrace this quality for what it is. It is a powerful, useful, amazing trait not everyone can have. Instead of repressing it, we need to let it out and use it for all the advantages we can.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
