For those who are interested in movies, here is my take on the best films this summer.
When summer first started, I was off to movies. My favorite was The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It was highly rated by many viewers, even though it had a sad ending. Jamie Foxx did a great job as Electro, showing how the character Max Dillon could get carried away with all that power and attention. The story did not, however, stay 100 percent true to the comics.
Another movie that I loved this summer was X-Men: Day of Future Past. As trippy as this film was, and as difficult to understand as it may have been, this X-Men film held it's own against the rest, being jam-packed with action, cool new superheroes, and a great storyline with a happy ending. Viewers see what leads Magneto and Mystique to evil, and how Professor Xavier and Wolverine manage to save the day, yet again. I highly recommend this movie.
The next movie I saw, I had really been looking forward to. When Linda Woolverton, the writer of Beauty and the Beast, came to my class and told us she would be working on Maleficent, I was looking forward to another one of her fabulous films. Maleficent was another great Disney film. It had a great story, Angelina Jolie did a great job playing Maleficent, and viewers could understand how the character, Maleficent, was lead to evil through the terrible acts that were done to her. We see dragons, fairies, crows, and plenty of other magical creatures throughout the film.
I am looking forward to seeing several more movies this summer, including 22 Jump Street and Transformers 4: Age of Extinction, both of which have received great ratings and are at the top of the box office.
Many of the films that have been successful are continuations of a series, as audiences have loved the first installments and want to see more. Movies for other audiences that are highly rated, as well, include How To Train Your Dragon 2 for younger kids, and Jersey Boys for those who remember the Four Seasons and are interested in their story -- possibly older audiences as it is rated R.
Many more exciting summer movies are still to be released, including Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, and of course, Expendables 3, due out in mid-August.
This summer is packed with some great movies, and I am looking forward to seeing which films make it to the Oscars this coming year.
