Beach Basics: San Diego

San Diego! The epic and beautiful home of famous people such as Tony Hawk, Phil Michelson and even Ron Burgundy!

What attracts all these celebrities and thousands of tourist every year?

Is it the Mexican food? The Zoo? Comic Con? Nope! It's actually the stellar humidity free warmth and the beaches! The beaches of San Diego County each have their own unique flare and personality!

Here are some of my favorite beaches in San Diego.

1. Swami's/Pipes

Swami's is a hidden treasure of the north county beach life. It's located on the south side of Encinitas right before you hit Cardiff and Solana Beach. After you park in the extremely small lot or on the road you trot down a few dozen stairs before you reach the shore line.

I love Swami's because the crowds are pretty well under control and it's primarily a surfing beach. If you prefer more of a family atmosphere Moonlight Beach is a quick walk up the shore. Swami's is the ideal beach for a picnic and it's conveniently located by Swami's Cafe that has the best Acai Bowls in North County.

Encinitas is also a very cute town that has a bunch of unique boutiques. Overall Encinitas is a 10 out of 10!

2. Pacific Beach (A.K.A P.B)

Pacific Beach is by far the most exciting beach to hang out at during both the day and the night. There's always something going on and it's also home to one of the most beautiful piers in San Diego County.

Pacific Beach is home to some of the best restaurants in all of San Diego. A few of my favorite are Baked Bear, Fred's Mexican Cafe, and Rum Jungle Cafe. An Urban Outfitters and Brandy Melville are also conveniently located right near the beach.

If you're not into buying clothes brand new, and want to play around with some vintage pieces, PB is home to a copious amount of thrift stores.

3. Sunset Cliffs

By far the most beautiful view in all of San Diego.

Sunset Cliffs in an amazing stretch of shore that rests between Ocean Beach and Point Loma. The Cliffs are fun to climb and navigate and it also offers a lot of room to set down a blanket and watch the sunset or admire the stars.

It can be hazardous, however, so be very careful, but altogether Sunset Cliffs will be one view you will never forget!

All together, San Diego is a great vacation destination!

It's often forgotten in the shadow of L.A and San Fransisco, however I assure you that the beaches, the people, and the lifestyle will make you very thankful that you paid San Diego a visit.

Stay Sunny!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
