The latest Marvel installment "Avengers: Infinity War" was unlike anything the cinematic universe has released before. With a dominant lineup up of some of the best characters known to Marvel including Black Panther and Captain America, the film was full of action-packed scenes and intense battles. But it wasn't all slow motion stunts, witty banter, and tales of origin. This was the literal end of many worlds and random genocide of our own.
WARNING there are spoilers ahead. Here are some of the biggest questions fans have after watching "Avengers: Infinity War."
1. Who is really dead?
One thing that truly separated this Marvel film from the others was the immense amount of loss. Thanos obtained all of the infinity stones and thus began his renovations by means of random genocide. In this, fans see some of Marvel's biggest characters fade away including Bucky, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Nick Fury, pretty much all of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Spider-Man.
Thanos also killed a few iconic characters on his journey to possess each of the stones including Gamora, Loki, and Heimdall.
Even if the remaining Avengers find a way to bring back those that "faded away," this may truly be the end for those killed earlier on.
2. What the hell is going on with Banner?
At the beginning of the film, there is a kick-ass line where Loki reveals Hulk to Thanos. Hulk unleashes his famed green fury onto the chaotic villain but is overpowered. Throughout the rest of the film, there are numerous times when the Avengers call on Banner, or Hulk so to say, but the big guy struggles to fully transform and shouts "No!" Banner tries to pull Hulk out but fails to do so even in the Avenger's most desperate times of need. Banner says to the Hulk, "we've got some things to figure out."
3. Red Skull is alive?
Marvel fans haven't seen Captain America's manic and tyrannical counterpart, Red Skull since 2011. In "Captain America: The First Avenger" the Nazi scientist is blasted with the Tesseract leaving viewers to assume his death.
However, we find out in "Infinity War" that he has really spent just about the last century on a secluded planet overlooking the Soul Stone. Red Skull tells Thanos of the price that must be paid in trade of the stone, "a soul for a soul" - leading to Gamora's death.
The reveal of Red Skull alive is huge for the Captain America corner of MCU and could possibly play a role in "Infinity War Part 2."
4. How much power does the infinity gauntlet still hold?
At the end of the film, Thanos snaps his fingers and people from around the world begin to dissolve, seemingly at random. The Infinity Gauntlet appears to be badly burnt and possibly broken. However, the Mad Titan was still able to use the space stone to transport to another planet where he is shown sitting on a porch looking out at the gauntlet resting on a scarecrow.
The Infinity Stones' metallic barer looks incredibly beat up, as it did in Wakanda, leading to some skepticism about its remaining power. It is possible that Thanos overloaded the Gauntlet and is now unable to use all of the stones -at least not in the same magnitude he did before. This should be answered in part two as the final line on the screen read "Thanos will return."
5. What was the message Nick Fury sent?
In the post-credit scene of "Infinity War," Nick Fury is seen assessing the universe-altering situation before him. After he watches Maria dissolve before his eyes he is able to send out a message on a small device.
The device falls to the ground as Fury is reduced to dust and reveals the symbol of Captain Marvel. Is Captain Marvel somehow the answer to the Mad Titan caused apocalypse? What was the message?
