It’s officially autumn. The leaves are changing, the days are becoming shorter, and mornings are chilly, but by noon in Mississippi that hoody is going to cost you. The transition between one season to another in the South is quite the experience. Temperatures can change drastically in the matter of hours, having you in shorts one day and bringing out the boots the next. However, the advertisements of bonfires, hoodies, and pumpkin spice can be a bit much in bringing us back to our southern weather reality. These are a few indicators:
- The Ugg:You know, the boots with the fur? Uggs have become a great fashion asset throughout the cold seasons, particularly to girls. From the casual late night trip to the store or your dreaded 8 A.M., you bring out the Uggs at the slightest goose bump!
2. Leggings/ Yoga Pants: You probably have already went crazy and barged into Pink and Forever 21 for the leggings you plan to wear every day during fall and winter. There’s nothing more comfortable than leggings! If it weren’t for the scorching temperatures of summer you’d probably wear them year round!
3. Christmas Music: Christmas music is perfectly acceptable whenever and wherever! Your Christmas playlist has been revised constantly since you got back from summer vacation. It’s never too early to get into the Christmas spirit.
4.Pumpkin Spice Everything: You’ve been craving a pumpkin spice latte ever since Starbucks began its seasonal advertising, and although the temperature is still in the 70’s it would only be right to celebrate the first day of fall and every other day with one. You’ve already bought your pumpkin spice scented candles, air fresheners, and perfume to bring in the season change!
Whether, you can relate or you’d rather be laying on the beaches of Destin, we can all agree that autumn provides us with the comforting thought of not sweating the minute we walk outside, for some days at least. So go ahead buy that pumpkin spice latte and have those Christmas decorations be ready, but as always expect the unexpected and don’t let the Mississippi weather fool you into misery. Happy autumn!
