How The Planets Play Together

Astrology Involves More Than The Sun Sign

Usually when people talk about their zodiac sign, they accept that they have one of 12 signs, their sun sign, and that determines all of their forecasts and personal characteristics.

Nope...

In actuality, astrology is far more complex than I've yet to fully understand, but having a deep love and curiosity for all things occult, I've gained some insight...

To me astrology is akin to a jigsaw puzzle of a persons life, and by learning and studying one's own self through the planets, that person can unlock and reconfigure certain aspects in order to make their future better and their lives more fulfilling and beautiful. After all, sometimes we have no clue what we want but by looking to the planets we can shine light into our dark corners and start to understand how to figure ourselves and our desires out.

If you've never had a natal chart done... you can get one done free and immediately here by entering your birth date and time and the location you were born. Once that is in your repertoire of self-awareness, please read on!

Isn't there something just awe-inspiring about knowing exactly where all the planets were at the specific time and place of your birth? I think so!

Now that you can see where each planet is, please take note of your ascendant/rising sign as well as your sun and moon sign. Together these three aspects make up the majority of your personal profile.

The sun offers an unchanging personal characteristic that will follow you throughout life. This is your basic nature. Your positive traits and negative ones, where you fit and where you don't. You can look at and study the symbols of your sign as well and find meaning. For instance, I'm a Libra, the scales, and I need balance. I'm on the Scorpio cusp according to some, and the Scorpion is the notorious symbol for that sign.

Some astrologers disagree with Cusp Signs... (but here's a chart anyway just in case it is a thing.)

Where the sun is masculine in nature, the moon is feminine. The sun is active, the moon receptive - you get the idea. (And the moon is on a 28 day cycle just like women, hmm...) So, in essence, your moon sign is more in line with your femininity and emotional qualities. Learning about your moon sign can give insight into where you are most content in emotional realms, what fills your needs and what depletes you. My moon is in the sign of Cancer, and that tells me that I am a mothering type and feel most happy taking care of people close to me and being taken care of.

Then, the third sign in this personal make-up trio, is your ascendant or rising sign. This sign is your persona that people see. This is your physical appearance and how you come off when people meet you. Your rising sign gives insight into how you approach people and situations, and sometimes how you approach life in general. My rising sign is Sagittarius and there's a lot of talk about how Sagittarius people have these glossy, distant yet driven looking eyes - I've been told that a lot, as well as sometimes being aloof and overly optimistic. I have a passion for learning, philosophy, and travel - all Sagittarius qualities.

As you can see, these three signs hold equal weight in value in a personal astrological profile. Look at the element behind each one to uncover more insight into your own being. Each element has its own qualities as well. Earth - grounded, easy going; Air - intellectual, thinkers; Fire - the initiators, the doers; Water - emotional, passionate.

These little tid-bits aren't even close to explaining astrology fully, but hopefully, they are enough to spark an interest for you to learn more! And while you're at it, please check out my friend Kabz weekly astrology reports here!

If you read this article, I think you're a beautiful and clever person! Thank you! Stay tuned next week! <3, m

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
