Love Always, Your Book Nerd Valentine

It's your perfect fairytale.

Love Always, Your Book Nerd Valentine

She may be the one in the back of the room with the eReader on, headphones in, completely zoned out. He may have the pile of open books sitting by himself at the coffee shop. Whether it be newspapers, magazines, tablets or an old fashioned book type. There are many benefits and negative aspects to having a literary love.

If you haven't found this kind of love yet, may I suggest a local Barnes and Noble or perhaps a cute old bookstore on the street corner.

In short, these are just a few things you may want to know about your significant other who has a long term relationship with books.

1. We all have a literary boyfriend/girlfriend we probably wish was you.

For me, it will forever and always be Augustus Waters.

2. Every holiday, birthday, special occasion or not so special occasion is the perfect opportunity to get us another book.

Because what could be better than giving a story that will be kept in her mind, and on her bookshelf, forever?

3. You can get away with being a true gentleman and carry all your lady's books.

If she's anything like Rory Gilmore, her bag will always have a book inside it and what better way to show that you care than to carry the heavier ones for her?

4. We may be mad about our book characters...and we may take it out on you.

After reading this, you shouldn't be surprised if she calls you one night screaming about complete and utter nonsense but it will always make sense in her head.

5. We can get by without social interaction for longer periods of time than most.

You may have to pry us away from them, wait for the end of a chapter or if all else fails, bribe us with a novel on our wish list.

6. We can get a little overemotional.

This is another thing that will make absolutely no sense to you, unless we cry about it and explain what happened through very ugly tears.

7. We will probably correct your grammar.

Hopefully, you'll think this is cute. If not, good luck.

8. We may also think we're smarter than you.

Because after all the books we read, we most likely are.

9. We will have higher expectations than most.

Meaning, you will have to be either super creative or a really good listener if you want to create perfect moments.

Whether you met her while she read the book with the perfect ending or when the characters she fell in love with broke her heart. Hopefully you make her want to turn the page of your own love story.

And to my Valentine, thank you for giving me the chance to read our story.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
