So you've waited until the last week of October to start thinking about Halloween. You want to do something cool and unique, but without paying those ridiculous party store prices. What can you do other than repeat last year's costume?

1. The Crayon

The crayon is a super cute, super easy costume to pull off with little to no time and very little money. Break out that cocktail dress, some black paper or duct tape, some scissors and a Crayola crayon as a template. Cut out pieces of paper or tape to write out 'Crayola' and make the black, decorative wave at the top and bottom. Stick the tape right to the dress or attach the paper with duct tape, put it on, and viola! For some added fun, make a matching cone hat from paper the same color as your dress to resemble the tip of the crayon! You can also do this costume with a t-shirt and leggings if you don't have a dress (or don't want to wear one in the chilly October weather!).

2. Salt and Pepper

Another absolutely adorable, super easy Halloween costume perfect for you and your best friend to try! One person wears black, the other wears white. Using tape (black tape for the person wearing white and white tape for the person wearing black), make the letters 'S' and 'P' and stick them to your black or white clothing. That's it! If you want to be really cute and creative, have a third person wear brown with the letter 'P', and you've now transformed into the lovable Salt, Pepper, and Paprika from Blue's Clues.

3. Zombies

Who doesn't love a good zombie? Bust out some eye shadows and old clothes and you've got an instant Halloween classic. Some things that will make your zombie even more realistic are fake blood and scar wax, which will add a nice dimension to your look. Even some colored hair spray will tie the look together!

4. A Formal Apology

If you love a play on words, this costume is perfect for you! Crack out that fancy suit or dress and write "I'm sorry" on a piece of paper. Carry it with you or string it around your neck, and you've got yourself a formal apology.

5. Ghost

This is a classic. The best part about this costume is how simple it is: take out an old white sheet, throw it over yourself, cut two holes for your eyes and you're done! Everyone will appreciate your traditional approach to Halloween with this look!

These five simple costumes are perfect for making Halloween memorable. Don't forget to stock up on all that delicious candy for trick-or-treaters!

Happy Halloween!

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:
