The Answers We Wish We Could Give To Those Awkward Thanksgiving Dinner Questions

Thanksgiving is always an interesting weekend for college students. In fact, for some it may be the first weekend they spend at home in three months. However, this retreat to comfort isn't all sunshine and daisies. In fact, Thanksgiving often brings awkward conversations about the future and successes in and out of the classroom. What better way to describe a college student's mental answers and translations to those questionable dinner questions than with a throwback to our childhood favorite Disney movies?

1. "Are you happy to be home?"

2. "How's school going?"

3. "What do you want to do after graduation?"

4. "How were your grades?"

5. "Oh, you only got a B in that class?"

6. "Did you hear that (insert sibling's name here) got straight As?"

7. "You went to all your classes, right?"

8. "Do you want a glass of wine?"

9. "How about seconds?"

10. "Are you drunk right now...?"

11. "Do you have a boyfriend?"

12. "What about that boy you always post pictures with on 'the Facebook'?"

13. "You don't smoke any of that marijuana, right?"

14. "You look tired; are you getting enough rest?"

15. "Maybe if you wake up earlier tomorrow you can re-adjust your sleep schedule?"

16. "Do you keep your room clean?"

17. "Can you help me cook dinner?"

18. "When's the last time you did laundry?"

19. "Do you use the gym ever?"

20. "Can't wait to see you at Christmas!"

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
