C.J. Lowery is one of the biggest figures for the Anarcho-Capitalism movement in Northeast Florida. Lowery is currently studying Computer and Information Sciences at University of North Florida and has been an Anarcho-Capitalist for five years.

JI: Can you give a brief introduction to Anarcho- Capitalism?

CL: Liberty, at it’s core, is acknowledgement, that we, as human beings, capable of reason and creation, own our bodies and minds, and by extension, the nature in which we alter to make unique and our own as well as the property that we obtain through voluntary agreements with other sentient, peaceful, human beings. Liberty is a universal acceptance of a secular moral principle called the Non-Aggression Principle (NAP). The NAP asserts that all initiation of aggression at one’s person or property is inherently immoral and illegitimate, regardless of the result of those actions, whether they be positive, negative, or neutral towards the recipient of said aggression, with the only legitimate use of force being in use of self defense or the defense of others.

Now to address the elephant in the room, government. The more government there is, the less liberty there is. Under universal application of the NAP, there is no government. Under the universal application of the NAP, there can only be anarchy with a respect for property rights. This has come to be known as Anarcho-Capitalism of Voluntarism.

JI: How many followers does the Anarcho-Capitalism movement have in Northeast Florida?

CL: Up to 152.

JI: What are the general ideas of the movement?

CL: To progress humanity to the next brink of peaceful coexistence and prosperity through competitive free markets and non aggression with an emphasis and logic, reason, and peace.

JI: What are the short term goals of your organization?

CL: More personal and economic freedoms by deregulation of government. Improving ourselves and the people around us.

JI: What are the long term goals of your organization?

CL: Abolition of all forms of the initiation of aggression encompassing all existing forms of government and any form of taxation using force. To form a peaceful stateless society with human exceptionalism and universally upward technological and philosophical improvement..

JI: Has your movement seen and changes yet in Florida?

CL: Not particularly, the movement here is not large enough yet.

JI: What’re your opinion on the current presidential candidates and Obama’s policies?

CL: No one should be president because they all support policies that institutionalize theft and violence on a global scale. Obama is a war criminal and a thief.

Anarcho-Capitalism is a very different from the current parties that most people support. It will be interesting to see if this movement gains national recognition. For more information on Anarcho-Capitalism, visit http://facebook.com/consentinteraction

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
